Its $47,990 starting price and advertised four-season design are only part of the buying decision: Kimbo’s own bed-fit statements and delivery estimates conflict across its pages, so confirm fitment, final weight, build contents and schedule in writing for your exact truck and order.
Will the Kimbo 8 fit your truck?
Kimbo lists the K8 for full-size pickups including the Toyota Tundra; Ford F-150, F-250 and F-350; Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500; GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500; and Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500. The main fitment section specifies 6.5- to 8-foot beds, says an 8-foot bed is required to close the tailgate, and says a 6.5-foot half-ton bed can carry the camper with the tailgate down. There is a meaningful discrepancy on the same product page: a later summary mentions 5.5-foot Tundra beds and 5.5- to 8-foot F-150 beds, while the main fit section and comparison table specify 6.5- to 8-foot beds. Do not treat the broad model list as confirmation that a particular year, cab and bed combination works. Ask Kimbo to confirm the exact truck, bed, tailgate arrangement and payload before ordering.
Check payload and axle ratings, not just bed length
Kimbo explicitly advises buyers to verify payload and links to a payload and suspension guide from its Owner Support & Service page. The truck’s payload label and axle ratings are specific to that vehicle; the camper’s advertised weight alone cannot establish that a loaded combination is within limits. Include the camper’s actual options, water, fuel, occupants and cargo in the calculation, and get vehicle-specific guidance before purchase.

These are Kimbo’s figures on its product page, accessed in 2026. They are not truck-specific payload calculations. Options and the actual amount of water, fuel, occupants and cargo change the real travel weight; weigh the configured camper and truck rather than relying on an estimate alone.
Is the Kimbo 8 a true four-season camper?
Kimbo calls the K8 a four-season camper engineered for sub-freezing use. Its listed cold-weather features are 2-inch R10 rigid foam insulation in the walls and ceiling, double-pane Arctic Tern windows, an insulated sealed entry door, and a pre-installed chimney pass-through for an optional factory-installed Dickinson Marine propane or diesel heater. The shell is a hand-riveted, frameless 5052 aluminum monocoque, made from listed 0.1-inch panels riveted at 1.5-inch spacing. These are manufacturer specifications and design claims, not independent cold-weather test results.

The cited product information does not give a guaranteed minimum operating temperature, a cold-chamber test or owner-measured fuel consumption under defined conditions. Kimbo says propane efficiency can decline below -10°F (-23°C) and that diesel is typically more consistent for extended cold-climate use; that comparison is the manufacturer’s guidance, not an independent test. Buyers planning winter trips should ask about the heater configuration, water-system protection and operating practices for their intended conditions.
What is included inside, and does it have a toilet?
The product page describes a 60 × 80-inch queen cabover mattress, an L-shaped seating and dinette area that converts to a lower bed, a kitchen counter and 12 gallons of internal water storage. The standard wet bath has a molded shower enclosure and removable water tanks. Kimbo describes a shower setup with three 3-gallon tanks, a 120V heating element and a rechargeable submersible pump.

A toilet is optional, not standard. Kimbo names a Joolca separating toilet and a Laveo dry-flush toilet as options. It also lists an optional external water tank for cold-weather shower plumbing. Confirm the toilet, tank arrangement and other equipment on the final build sheet; the product page’s general description should not substitute for the contents of a specific order.
How does the Kimbo 8 compare with the Kimbo 6?
Kimbo positions the K8 as its larger full-size-truck model and the K6 as a midsize-truck camper. The comparison below reflects the manufacturer’s product-page specifications and listed starting prices, not a third-party head-to-head test.

The K8 is the more equipped and expensive platform in Kimbo’s comparison. The K6 may better suit a midsize truck and a buyer seeking a smaller, lighter camper, but truck-specific payload still needs checking for either model.

Kimbo’s product page lists a $47,990 starting price. Its Kimbo 8 build configurator gives the same base price and says typical builds with common modules land between $50,000 and $60,000. The configurator also estimates $2,000–$5,000 in truck upgrades for owners near payload limits. Those figures are manufacturer page statements, not a quote for a particular build; prices and equipment can change. How long does a Kimbo 8 take to build?
Kimbo’s published estimates do not agree. The product page says 6–8 weeks from build confirmation; the configurator says 3–4 months in one section and 6–8 weeks in its FAQ; and the support page says roughly 12 weeks. These are conflicting page estimates, not a reliable delivery commitment. Ask Kimbo for a dated schedule tied to your build confirmation and get any promised timing in writing.
What warranty and service support does Kimbo list?
Kimbo’s product and support pages describe a standard two-year transferable warranty. The configurator lists a five-year extended limited warranty option for $1,990. Confirm the written coverage, exclusions and requirements for the exact order rather than assuming every repair, modification or component is covered.
Kimbo says registration is automatic at delivery and that service can be arranged in Bellingham or handled remotely for many smaller issues. Its support page says to have the camper serial number ready when ordering parts; commonly stocked items such as rivets, sealants, window kits and latch hardware typically ship within 5–7 business days, while less common parts can take longer or be fabricated to order. Kimbo says shell panel work can be supplied for qualified fabrication or handled at its Bellingham factory. Availability can change, and third-party systems are serviced according to their component makers’ manuals.
