Your decision should therefore rest on a current, written quotation for the exact local variant, not on a single range headline.

Range and battery: compare the test cycle before the headline number
MG publishes an India-certified figure and a practical estimate
MG Motor India lists a 50.3 kWh battery and a 461 km certified range for the ZS EV. The same page gives a typical real-world estimate of 350–420 km and explicitly ties the result to road conditions, speed and climate-control use. Treat 350–420 km as planning guidance from the manufacturer, not as a measured result from an independent route.

For everyday planning, use the lower end of that estimate when your route includes sustained high speeds, heavy traffic with air-conditioning, steep gradients or very hot or cold weather. A longer trip should include a charging stop before the displayed range is exhausted; the usable buffer you choose is a personal safety margin, not a published specification.
VinFast shows more battery, but no India range in the reviewed page
The VinFast India page displays a 59.6 kWh battery. It does not show an India-specific certified or typical real-world range in the captured specifications. A larger battery can be useful for longer legs or less frequent charging, but consumption, software limits, wheel and tyre configuration, temperature and the certification cycle determine the distance you actually obtain.
CarDekho lists 463 km for the VF6 and 461 km for the ZS EV in its comparison. That is secondary data, and the VF6 test cycle and exact Indian trim are not established there; verify the number with VinFast before treating it as a like-for-like comparison: CarDekho’s VF6–ZS EV comparison.
Why European and Indonesian numbers cannot be substituted for India
VinFast Europe lists preliminary WLTP estimates of 410 km for the Eco and 379 km for the Plus. The page says marketed vehicles and equipment can vary by market and configuration. Those are European preliminary WLTP values, not Indian certification figures: VinFast Europe’s VF6 specifications.

VinFast’s Indonesian launch release reports 480 km for the Eco and approximately 460 km for the Plus under the NEDC cycle. NEDC generally cannot be compared directly with WLTP or with MG’s Indian certified figure. How to turn the figures into a route decision
- Write down your longest regular one-way distance and the nearest reliable charger on that route.
- Use the MG’s 350 km estimate as a conservative starting point for a demanding trip, then adjust only after your own driving records.
- For the VF6, obtain the exact Indian variant’s certified cycle, battery usable capacity and energy-consumption figure in writing.
- Plan a charging stop with a reserve rather than targeting the last few kilometres of the dashboard estimate.
Power and performance: market labels matter
The available performance figures are not Indian-market test results. VinFast Europe specifies 130 kW and 250 Nm for the Eco and 150 kW and 310 Nm for the Plus. Its Indonesian launch release describes the same outputs as 130 kW/174 hp/250 Nm for Eco and 150 kW/201 hp/310 Nm for Plus. Keep those figures attached to their respective markets and trims; they do not prove that every Indian VF6 variant has identical software, motor calibration or equipment.
No comparable Indian acceleration time, overtaking test, braking test or efficiency test is established for either vehicle in the available material. If performance is important, test the exact local trim with passengers and luggage, and note the battery state, drive mode and road conditions rather than relying on a brochure output.
Features and safety equipment
Equipment listed for the ZS EV in India
MG’s India page lists a panoramic sunroof, 10.1-inch infotainment screen, Level 2 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), digital key, air purifier, wireless charging, a powered driver’s seat and six airbags. Equipment can be trim-dependent, so ask the dealer to mark each item against the variant and model year on the quotation.

Equipment shown for the VF6
VinFast India lists Level 2 ADAS and the 59.6 kWh battery. VinFast Europe advertises a 12.9-inch screen, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats and Level 2 highway assistance, with market and configuration caveats. Those European feature claims should be treated as a checklist for the Indian car, not as proof that every Indian VF6 includes them.

ADAS is a driver aid, not autonomous driving. Ask for a demonstration of lane, cruise and emergency functions and read the local owner’s manual; road markings, weather and motorcycle traffic can affect operation.
Price, BaaS and the cost you will actually pay
Published prices are ex-showroom starting points
MG Motor India lists a starting ex-showroom price of ₹17,99,000 and a page-wide range up to ₹20,74,600. It also says prices may vary by region. VinFast India displays ₹18,19,000. Neither figure is an on-road, guaranteed quotation; registration, insurance, taxes, accessories, financing and dealer charges can change the amount payable in your city.

How MG’s BaaS option changes the calculation
MG’s page lists a battery-as-a-service structure at ₹13 lakh plus ₹4.5 per kilometre. The kilometre component is cumulative, so calculate it over your expected distance and ownership period:

These are arithmetic illustrations of the listed BaaS formula, not final on-road totals. They exclude electricity, insurance, registration, financing, maintenance, tyres and any contract fees or limits. Ask whether the ₹4.5/km rate is fixed for the contract, how kilometres are recorded, what happens if you sell the car, and whether the battery remains covered under the same warranty.
Compare ownership cost over your own mileage
- Choose an ownership horizon, such as three, five or eight years.
- Estimate annual kilometres using work, school, weekend and holiday driving rather than an optimistic guess.
- Add the BaaS distance charge, home and public charging electricity, insurance, maintenance, tyres and finance interest.
- Obtain the equivalent non-BaaS price and confirm what battery ownership and warranty it includes.
- Recalculate if your annual distance changes; a low upfront BaaS price can become less attractive at high mileage.
Warranty and battery-risk questions
MG India states that the ZS EV battery is covered for eight years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first, for the first registered owner. Confirm the warranty booklet’s capacity threshold, roadside-assistance terms, exclusions, service requirements and whether coverage transfers to a second owner.

Before paying a booking amount for a VF6, request written Indian warranty documents covering the vehicle, high-voltage battery, motor, onboard charger and ADAS hardware. Ask who performs warranty work, where high-voltage repairs are carried out, what happens if the dealer changes ownership, and whether the terms transfer with the vehicle.
Charging at home and on the road
ZS EV charging information published for India
MG states that a 7.4 kW AC charge takes approximately 9–10 hours from 0 to 100%. It also states that a 50 kW DC charger takes approximately 50 minutes to reach 80%. These are approximate manufacturer figures; charging slows near a high state of charge, and temperature, charger sharing and battery conditioning affect the result.
VF6 Indian charging data is still a purchase question
The reviewed VinFast India page does not provide comparable India-specific AC power, DC peak power, 10–80% time or charging-curve data. Ask for the onboard AC charger rating, maximum DC input, connector standard, preconditioning behaviour and cable supplied with the exact Indian variant. Confirm whether a home-wallbox installation is included, optional or handled by a third party.

Service coverage and everyday ownership
The available information does not establish comparative city-by-city dealer coverage, repair turnaround, parts availability, charging uptime or owner satisfaction. Those factors can matter more than a small difference in brochure range. Visit the service facility that would handle your car and ask for the nearest high-voltage technician, accident-repair process, estimated parts lead times and roadside-assistance response area.
- Check that your home and workplace have a safe, approved charging point and suitable electrical capacity.
- Search your regular intercity routes for at least two usable fast-charging alternatives, not one map pin.
- Ask for the scheduled-service intervals and prices for the exact variant.
- Clarify software-update delivery, mobile-app support and what happens when connectivity is unavailable.
- Get written contact details for breakdown and battery-related emergencies.
Which one should you buy?
Choose the MG ZS EV when certainty is the priority
- You want an India-certified 461 km figure and a published 350–420 km typical real-world estimate.
- You prefer a documented India price range, BaaS formula, charging times and first-owner battery warranty.
- Your local MG service and charging arrangements are already convenient.
- The listed India features—six airbags, Level 2 ADAS, digital key, wireless charging and powered driver’s seat—match the trim you can afford.
Consider the VF6 only after closing the India-specification gaps
- The larger 59.6 kWh battery suits your route, but you have obtained an India-specific certified range and consumption figure.
- The exact local trim includes the features you value, rather than equipment advertised only for Europe.
- VinFast supplies written Indian vehicle and battery warranties with clear transfer and exclusion terms.
- A nearby dealer can support high-voltage repairs and your regular routes have dependable charging.
- Your itemised, on-road quotation remains competitive after insurance, registration, financing and any charging equipment.
There is no evidence here for declaring a universal range or ownership-cost winner. MG offers the clearer India baseline today; VF6 could still fit a buyer who values its larger battery and receives stronger local documentation and support than the reviewed web page shows.
Buyer checklist before booking either SUV
- Record the exact variant, model year, battery capacity and wheel-and-tyre specification on the quote.
- Ask for the certified range cycle and a written typical-consumption figure for the Indian car.
- Obtain an itemised on-road price valid for your registration state and city.
- For MG BaaS, calculate the kilometre charge for your expected annual distance and confirm contract-transfer rules.
- For VF6, obtain Indian vehicle and battery warranty documents; do not substitute Indonesian or European terms.
- Confirm AC charger rating, DC peak power, connector, charging-cable contents and installation responsibility.
- Test every promised feature on the exact car, including ADAS, camera views, phone key, seat ventilation and wireless charging.
- Visit the servicing dealer, ask about high-voltage capability and parts lead times, and get roadside-assistance contacts.
- Complete a mixed route test with passengers, air-conditioning and the driving speeds you normally use.
- Keep the final quotation, warranty booklet and feature list with the booking paperwork.
