Urtopia presented its Quark DM1.2 e-bike motor alongside the Titanium Zero, a 3D-printed titanium e-bike concept, at CES 2025. The motor was reported at 1,200 g (2.6 lb) and 65 Nm (48 ft-lb), but “world’s smallest” remains a claim in coverage—not a verified global ranking. The Titanium Zero was described as a concept, and the available reporting does not establish that it reached production or is currently available.
What Urtopia showed at CES 2025
Urtopia’s CES presentation paired two related pieces of technology: the Quark DM1.2 drive unit and the Titanium Zero, a bicycle frame made using 3D-printed titanium. Interesting Engineering reported the motor specifications and a claimed complete-bike weight; Velo’s January 2025 coverage characterized the Titanium Zero as a concept and said Urtopia expected to push the drive system toward production.
That distinction matters: showing a concept and discussing a path toward production do not establish that the bike or motor later entered regular sale. The cited reports do not confirm present availability.
Quark DM1.2: reported specifications
| Item | Reported figure | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Motor weight | 1,200 g (2.6 lb) | Urtopia specification reported by Interesting Engineering in 2025; not an independent measurement. |
| Torque | 65 Nm (48 ft-lb) | Urtopia specification reported by Interesting Engineering in 2025; not an independently tested result. |
| Titanium Zero complete-bike weight | 23.8 lb (10.8 kg) | Urtopia claim reported by Interesting Engineering in 2025; not an independent weighing. |
The figures give a sense of the design’s intended combination of compact drive hardware and a lightweight concept bicycle. They do not, by themselves, establish how the system performs on a road or trail, how it compares across all available motors, or what the production version would weigh.

Is it really the world’s smallest e-bike motor?
The available reporting does not establish a global, independently verified smallest-motor ranking. Velo framed the Quark as a motor that might be the smallest it had seen, rather than the result of a comprehensive market-wide comparison. The phrase “world’s smallest” should therefore be read as a coverage or product claim, not a confirmed category record.
Size also does not necessarily mean invisibility. Velo noted that the Quark was not necessarily designed to be hidden. For a practical comparison, readers should consider motor weight and stated torque alongside drive placement, visibility, the type of motor, and whether the bicycle is a production model.

How the reported figures compare with examples in Velo’s 2025 coverage
| Motor or system | Reported weight | Reported torque | Important context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Urtopia Quark DM1.2 | 2.6 lb | 65 Nm | Reported Urtopia specifications; Velo comparison published in 2025. |
| Fazua Ride 60 | 4.3 lb | 60 Nm | Figures cited by Velo in 2025; comparison is not a current market survey. |
| Giant SyncDrive hub motor | 3.7 lb | Not stated (Velo, 2025) | Velo’s reported weight comparison; a hub motor is a different drive type from a mid-drive. |
These examples put the Quark’s reported weight and torque in context, but they are not like-for-like proof of overall superiority. The Giant comparison is a hub motor, while the Quark and Fazua examples are mid-drive systems; motor type and installation affect what a raw weight comparison tells you. Velo’s figures are dated reporting, not a current census of competing products.

Velo described the Titanium Zero as a concept and reported Urtopia’s expectation of moving the drive system toward production. The cited coverage does not verify a production launch, specifications for a later retail version, or current availability. The 23.8 lb (10.8 kg) complete-bike figure is a claim reported by Interesting Engineering, not confirmation of the weight of a production bicycle.
