The Ultima RS brochure lists a tuned Chevrolet LT5 V8 configuration at over 1,200 bhp, 0–60 mph in 2.3 seconds and a gearing-limited top speed of 250+ mph. These are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified performance results. The RS is configurable, so its figures—and build cost—depend on the engine and options selected. A current price is not published on Ultima’s reviewed model page, so “on a budget” is not an established affordability claim.
How much horsepower does the Ultima RS have?
It depends on the engine. Ultima’s brochure lists Chevrolet LS and LT V8 options spanning 430 bhp to over 1,200 bhp, with the maximum applying to a tuned LT5. The car is not a single fixed-output model: engine choice and tuning materially change its performance.
The brochure pairs three LT engine configurations with the following claimed figures:

All figures in the table are Ultima brochure claims, not independent test results. The brochure identifies the LT5’s output as over 1,200 bhp when tuned; it does not establish that every LT5-powered RS produces that output.

Can the Ultima RS really reach 250 mph?
Ultima lists the LT5 configuration’s top speed as “250+ mph (gearing limited).” Autocar’s 10 June 2019 launch report also attributes a 250 mph-plus maximum-speed claim to Ultima. Neither source establishes an independently recorded 250 mph road speed, so it is more accurate to describe this as a manufacturer-claimed, gearing-limited maximum than as a verified record.
Autocar’s launch report gives some figures that differ from the brochure: it reports 480 bhp and 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds for the LT1, and 650 bhp for the LT4. It describes the standard LT5 as 800 bhp and says it can be tuned to 1,200 bhp. These are launch-era reported specifications and should not be blended with the brochure’s configuration table as though they were one consistent set of figures.

What is the RS, and how is it configured?
Ultima describes the RS as its range’s halo model. The brochure lists Chevrolet LS3, LS7 and LSA engines alongside LT1, LT4 and LT5 options, and specifies a Porsche six-speed manual transaxle. It describes a full spaceframe chassis, adjustable coil-spring dampers and double unequal-length wishbone suspension. Ultima’s RS and support page says clients can use a build manual and receive build support.
The brochure says customers can specify right- or left-hand drive. It also describes a laminated windscreen certified for the USA and Europe; that statement does not establish that every completed RS meets road-registration or inspection rules in every jurisdiction. Check the requirements that apply where the car will be registered.

How much does an Ultima RS cost now?
A current RS price is not stated on Ultima’s reviewed model page. Autocar reported on 10 June 2019 that pricing had not been confirmed, while relaying an approximate £60,000 starting suggestion based on Ultima’s comparison with a new BMW M3. That is launch-era context, not a current quote.
The available information does not establish a present-day total for a self-build or turnkey car, including the selected engine and transmission, options, labor, delivery, tax, registration or insurance. A self-build format may change the purchase and assembly equation, but the evidence here does not quantify the overall cost or establish that the RS is inexpensive compared with other cars.

What should buyers know about weight, brakes and tyres?
Ultima’s brochure gives the RS a weight of 950 kg, depending on options. Autocar reported 930 kg at launch in 2019; the reviewed sources do not resolve the difference. Treat either number as source-specific rather than a definitive weight for every build.
The brochure lists standard 322 mm AP curved-vane vented discs with four-piston calipers, plus an optional 362 mm brake package with six-piston calipers. It identifies forged 19-inch Ultima wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 and Pilot Sport 4S tyre options, but the retrieved brochure text does not state tyre sizes. Confirm the individual car’s build and approved fitment before choosing replacement tyres.

Can you build and maintain one yourself?
Ultima’s current website says 75% of its customers are first-time builders and links a step-by-step online build manual for clients. Those are manufacturer statements; the page does not give a survey year or methodology, and they do not independently establish how difficult or costly a particular build will be.
Ultima also says it stocks spare parts and upgrades for all models, ships worldwide, offers factory service and repair, and keeps records of chassis and parts supplied. These describe the manufacturer’s support offering, not independent assessments of service cost, availability in a particular country or ownership experience. Ask Ultima about current support and parts arrangements for the specific car and location.
