Kia quotes up to 317 km of WLTP range for a cited standard-range configuration and up to 453 km for a 61.0 kWh front-wheel-drive version. Those are laboratory estimates, not promises of everyday driving range. The EV2 could suit urban use and small-family duties, but the right fit depends on local pricing, trim, charging access and how much space you need.
What is the Kia EV2?
Kia revealed the EV2 on 9 January 2026 as a European-built B-segment electric SUV and the compact entry point to its European EV range. Kia says it is designed, engineered and produced in Europe. Its launch specification gives an overall length of 4,060 mm, and Kia Ireland describes it as a five-seat vehicle. What is the Kia EV2’s range?
Kia offers two battery capacities. Its European product page quotes up to 317 km for the standard-range configuration and up to 453 km for the 61.0 kWh front-wheel-drive version. The standard-range maximum depends on wheels: Kia lists up to 317 km with 16-inch wheels and up to 308 km with 18-inch wheels for the cited case. Kia UK publishes country-specific figures in miles, including up to 275 miles for a 61.0 kWh FWD configuration, with figures differing by trim. These are market-specific WLTP estimates; no independent real-world range figure is established here. How long does the Kia EV2 take to charge?
Kia says the EV2 uses a 400V architecture and quotes DC charging from 10% to 80% at about 29 minutes for the standard-range battery and 30 minutes for the long-range battery, under optimal conditions. These are not guaranteed times for every charging session: charger output, battery temperature, starting state of charge and other conditions matter. Kia also advertises route planning and Plug&Charge at compatible public stations. Its claim of access to more than 500,000 stations refers to Kia Charge’s European network; it does not mean every charger is accessible to every driver or included in every tariff. Is the Kia EV2 big enough for a family?
The EV2’s five seats and adjustable rear-seat layout suggest it is intended to do more than carry a driver around town. Kia Europe describes sliding and reclining rear seats, up to 958 mm of rear legroom, a maximum 403-litre luggage compartment and a 15-litre front compartment. Kia UK lists a 362-litre trunk figure for its market page. Do not treat those two luggage figures as interchangeable: use the specification for the country and version you are considering. What is inside, and what equipment does it get?
Kia Ireland describes a triple-display ccNC cockpit with a 12.3-inch driver display, 5.3-inch climate display and 12.3-inch central touchscreen. The Irish launch release says some versions use ccNC Lite and identifies driver-assistance features including blind-spot collision avoidance, lane keep assist and front collision avoidance assist 2.0. There is no single global price. Kia Ireland’s April 2026 launch announcement listed the Air standard-range model from €28,660 and the long-range version from €31,940, alongside Air, Earth, GT-Line and GT-Line Plus trims. Kia UK’s product page listed a starting price of £27,995 and uses UK-specific trim names. Prices, offers and equipment can change; check the current national price list and confirm which battery and trim a quoted price covers. How does the EV2 compare with the EV3 and other small electric cars?
Kia UK positions the EV2 as shorter and more manoeuvrable in urban environments than the EV3, while describing the EV3 as roomier and longer-ranging. That is Kia’s comparison, rather than an independent head-to-head test. For a buyer choosing between them, compare the actual local versions’ prices, range estimates, dimensions, charging access and equipment rather than assuming the larger vehicle is automatically the better fit.
