In a February 2023 feature, Monochrome Watches reported four in-wheel motors, up to 600 hp and two battery configurations. Its specifications, prices and road-approval claim come from that feature and have not been independently verified here.
What is The Landrovers’ Panterra?
The Panterra is The Landrovers’ custom electric take on the classic Defender. Monochrome Watches’ 11 February 2023 feature by Robin Nooy describes The Landrovers as a Dutch bespoke Defender builder founded by Daniel van Oort and Peter Zeisser, with Frank Tijs joining its leadership team as CTO. The company’s approach starts with classic Defenders and rebuilds them to customer specifications rather than offering a standard factory model.
The feature says the builder uses original Defender chassis at least 25 years old, reuses salvageable components and reinforces or adapts the chassis as needed. Customers can specify details including body style, interior, paint, wheels and suspension. The Panterra applies that specialist-build approach to an electric conversion.
How the reported in-wheel motor setup works
Instead of a conventional single motor and drivetrain arrangement, the Panterra is described as having one electric motor at each wheel. Monochrome Watches reported four motors rated at 150 hp apiece, for 600 hp total, and up to 6,400 Nm of combined torque. The feature says locating the motors at the wheels frees space in the chassis; it does not establish independently tested gains in efficiency, range or weight distribution.
The feature also reports regenerative braking and fully independent suspension. It does not give a technical test protocol or independent validation for these specifications, so they should be read as figures reported in 2023, not as confirmed test results.
Panterra Cheetah vs. Lion
The 2023 feature listed two configurations. Its range and acceleration figures are stated claims, not results tied to a named standardized test cycle.

Monochrome Watches reported 150 kW fast charging for both versions. The feature does not state whether battery capacity means gross or usable capacity, specify a range-test cycle, or provide a charging curve. The reported range, acceleration and charging figures therefore cannot establish how the vehicle would perform in a particular owner’s conditions.
Build process, price and road approval
The feature describes the Panterra as a customer-specific commission and reports a maximum build period of nine months after design and specification. It gave approximate starting prices of €275,000 for the Cheetah and €370,000 for the Lion in 2023. These are historical figures, not current quotes or confirmed present-day lead times; current availability and terms are not established.

Monochrome Watches also said the prototype had passed regulations and safety requirements and was type-approved for public roads. The feature does not identify the jurisdiction or approval authority. That statement should not be taken as proof that every Panterra, or a vehicle in any particular country, is currently road-legal.

The Panterra is notable as a bespoke electric Defender project with a reported four-motor layout and two battery options. The available account is a 2023 lifestyle and automotive feature, not a technical homologation record or independent road test. Current specifications, certification details, production volume, price and availability remain unverified.
