What changed in UAE fuel prices for October 2026?
The Gasoline and Diesel Prices Follow-up Committee set October prices at AED 4.21 per litre for E-Plus 91, AED 4.28 for Special 95, AED 4.40 for Super 98 and AED 4.80 for diesel. What are the EV price brackets in the UAE?
The available UAE evidence does not support a verified, complete set of entry, midrange and premium price brackets. DriveArabia lists a 2026 Tesla Model 3 from AED 144,990 and a 2026 BYD Seal from AED 149,900, but these are indicative third-party listings—not a same-date authorized-dealer survey. For context, Tesla’s UAE Model 3 page provides specifications by trim rather than a consistent purchase-price ladder. BYD’s UAE offers page shows monthly-payment promotions and their terms; a monthly offer is not a cash price and cannot be compared fairly without its down payment, duration, fees and eligibility conditions. Before treating any listing or promotion as a buying price, confirm the model year and trim with an authorized UAE dealer, whether the quoted figure is a cash/list price or finance offer, what fees it includes, and whether the vehicle is in stock. Do not use prices from another market to fill gaps in a UAE comparison.

How much range does an EV offer?
Tesla UAE lists Model 3 WLTP range figures that vary by configuration: 534 km for Standard, 660 km for Premium AWD, 750 km for a listed Premium rear-wheel-drive configuration with 18-inch wheels, and 571 km for Performance. These are standardized manufacturer figures, not promises of UAE real-world distance. When comparing cars, match trim to trim and use the same test standard. Then consider how far you drive on a typical day and whether you can charge where the car is parked; a headline range figure alone does not answer whether a particular EV suits your routine.

What does it cost to charge an EV in Dubai?
DEWA lists Dubai public charging tariffs of AED 0.64 per kWh for AC and AED 1.14 per kWh for DC, with 5% VAT. These are Dubai public-charging figures. DEWA separately lists residential electricity slab pricing and a fuel surcharge, so a home-charging cost depends on the applicable account tariff and is not simply the public AC rate. Charging cost also depends on how much electricity the vehicle takes on and where it is charged. For a useful estimate, use the tariff that applies to your charging location and account, rather than applying a single UAE-wide rate.

Check home charging before choosing a car
If you have dedicated parking, ask the building or property manager whether installation is permitted and have electrical capacity assessed. Check connector compatibility and follow the vehicle maker’s installation guidance. If home charging is not practical, map public chargers near home, work and regular destinations, and factor in the relevant public tariff and charging speed.
Is an EV cheaper to run than a petrol car?
October’s fuel increase makes petrol expenditure more salient, but the figures here are not enough to calculate which car will cost less overall. A fair comparison needs the actual purchase price and finance terms, your distance driven, the petrol car’s fuel consumption, the EV’s energy use, and the tariffs and charging mix you can access. Insurance, maintenance, depreciation and resale also affect ownership cost; no current, comparable total-cost-of-ownership figure is established here.
