The TWIKE 5 is a planned two-seat, three-wheel electric vehicle with an optional pedal generator that lets occupants exercise while producing electricity. The “120-mph” description comes from a 2019 headline, not a single current specification: TWIKE now lists one configuration at up to 130 km/h and another at up to 190 km/h. The vehicle remains under development and is not yet in production.
How the TWIKE 5 lets you exercise while driving
The TWIKE 5’s pedals operate a generator rather than mechanically driving the wheels like a conventional bicycle. TWIKE describes the system as a “Pedal generator with stepless control, individual training units programmable.” Muscle power is converted into electrical energy, so pedaling is intended to combine exercise with a contribution to the vehicle’s electric power.
The system is optional. TWIKE’s co-pilot article says the passenger-side generator is not included in the basic version. An offer and prices mentioned in that 2024 article were time-limited; they should not be treated as current pricing. TWIKE’s fitness explanation is manufacturer material, not an independent medical assessment, and the available sources do not quantify energy savings or the effect on driving range.
Is the TWIKE 5 really capable of 120 mph?
Not as a universal figure. The 120-mph wording comes from a March 19, 2019 New Atlas story republished on TWIKE’s site. TWIKE’s current product page lists two configurations with different maximum speeds: 130 km/h (about 81 mph) and 190 km/h (about 118 mph). The higher figure is close to, but not exactly, 120 mph; neither figure is an independent road-test result.

TWIKE 5 configurations and stated specifications
TWIKE’s current product page lists the following battery and performance combinations. The company describes range as simulated under WLTP and says actual range depends on driving style and environmental conditions.

Other specifications on TWIKE’s page include rear-wheel drive, 70 kW peak power, 45 kW nominal power, and an empty weight of approximately 680 kg, depending on battery configuration. The vehicle has two seats and a T-top convertible body. TWIKE lists 300 litres of luggage space, or 600 litres without the passenger seat. These are manufacturer specifications, not results from an independent test.

Price, production status, and reservations
TWIKE’s product page lists a starting price of €45,200 net. Final pricing depends on battery configuration and the VAT rate in the buyer’s country, so this is not a universal out-the-door price. The company describes the TWIKE 5 as a limited series of 500 vehicles; it says its reservation list may exceed that number because some reservations do not become confirmed orders.
TWIKE GmbH’s March 2026 pre-order form says the TWIKE 5 is still under development and not yet in production, and that a pre-order is not a binding purchase. The form calls the specifications targets and notes that configuration may change as development proceeds and initial prototypes are presented. Treat the listed performance and range as current manufacturer claims, not as verified characteristics of delivered production vehicles.

What the 120-mph headline leaves out
The headline reflects an earlier, concept-era description, while the current manufacturer page distinguishes two configurations. The key practical questions are therefore which battery and performance version is ultimately offered, what its final price will be in the buyer’s country, and how the finished vehicle performs. The available figures answer the first question only at the level of current manufacturer-listed configurations; the vehicle is not yet in production.
