Tuthill publishes a 3.1-litre short-stroke, four-valve engine, an 11,000-rpm rev limit and a wet weight of 850 kg. Those figures explain why the K attracts the label “restomod perfection”—but the superlative is an opinion, not a verdict established by independent testing.
What the Tuthill 911 K is
The K is a Tuthill Special Projects car, not a standard Porsche production model. Tuthill describes it as a limited-production series developed from client Philip Kadoorie’s vision for an especially engaging early 911. The company says it unveiled the car at The Quail during Monterey Car Week in August 2022.
Its appeal lies in the tension it is designed to hold: the familiar shape and lightness associated with an early 911, combined with engineering intended to make it capable alongside contemporary cars. That is Tuthill’s design intent; it is not a published result from a controlled comparison against modern sports cars or other restomods.
The published specifications—and what they mean
Tuthill’s official project page lists three headline figures:

| Specification | Tuthill-published figure |
|---|---|
| Engine | 3.1-litre, short-stroke, four-valve |
| Rev limit | 11,000 rpm |
| Wet weight | 850 kg |
The combination points to a deliberately high-revving, low-weight approach. The figures are manufacturer-published specifications, not independently verified test results. The cited official project material does not provide engine output, acceleration, top speed or a standard equipment list, so those numbers should not be inferred from the displacement or rev limit.
Why Tuthill built it this way
Richard Tuthill described the intended balance as a car that could cover 500 km in a day without fatigue, yet retain the lightness to drive quickly on a country road. He also characterized the idea as a simple, lightweight car, beautifully presented, with mechanical capability to take on old or new cars. These statements explain the brief; they do not establish a measured long-distance comfort result or superiority over another model.

- Scale: 1: 24.
- Length 179 mm.
That balance is central to the K’s identity. It is not presented simply as a period-style show car, nor does the available evidence establish it as a track-only machine. Its design ambition is to combine classic 911 character with a much more intensive mechanical specification.
Some build details depend on the individual car
A Tuthill-affiliated post describing a later 911 K build lists a magnesium six-speed 915 K gearbox, carbon and titanium components, carbon-ceramic discs, Tuthill calipers and Avon CR6ZZ tyres. These are details for the build described in that post, not a confirmed standard specification for every 911 K. It also mentioned some carbon and titanium parts being available through Tuthill at the time; current stock and exact fitment are not established.

Can you buy a Tuthill 911 K?
Tuthill’s material establishes that the K is a limited-production project and provides a route to inquire about special projects. It does not establish a current price, open build slots, delivery schedule or total production quantity. Nor does the available information establish road registration, homologation, emissions compliance or safety status for any particular country. Anyone considering a build would need to confirm those details directly for the car and market in question.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is “restomod perfection” fair?
As an enthusiast’s judgment, the phrase captures the K’s compelling combination of classic 911 design, a strikingly high stated rev limit and a published wet weight of 850 kg. As a factual claim, “perfection” goes beyond what the published specifications can prove. The evidence supports calling it a focused, bespoke restomod with ambitious engineering goals; it does not include independent performance testing or a like-for-like comparison that would settle whether it is the best of its kind.
