Those are not nationwide on-road prices. Your final amount depends on the city, the battery variant, the insurance policy and whatever registration or other line items your local seller applies. Tunwal describes the scooter as a “Non-RTO Low-Speed 2-Wheeler” and tells buyers to obtain an exact local quote from a dealer, while city calculators show different RTO treatment.
Storm ZX prices by battery variant
Tunwal’s Storm ZX product page lists three configurations. The figures below are ex-showroom prices, meaning the published vehicle price before any separately listed insurance, RTO-related amount or other local charges. None should be presented as an on-road price.

Ex-showroom is the starting vehicle price. An on-road quote is the amount payable to take delivery in a particular location after the seller accounts for applicable taxes, insurance and any registration or support items. The composition is not uniform across India for this model. A quotation can therefore be higher than the headline price even when the scooter and battery variant are identical.

For the Storm ZX, the manufacturer says it provides insurance assistance, free home delivery, RTO support and one-year roadside assistance. The model page does not state that a particular insurance premium is included in the ex-showroom figure, nor does it publish a single all-India on-road total. Treat those support statements as inclusions or services to confirm with the dealer, not as cash values to add automatically.
What city estimates show for the base variant
The available city examples are for the Lead-Acid 28Ah version at the ₹55,993 ex-showroom price. They were published by ZigWheels in September 2026 and are estimates, not Tunwal dealer quotations.

Those calculations explain the difference between the two published totals; they do not establish what a buyer in another city will pay.

Is RTO payable on the Storm ZX?
Tunwal labels the model “Non-RTO Low-Speed 2-Wheeler” and says that no licence or registration is needed. That is the manufacturer’s description on its product page, not an independently verified legal determination in this article. Vehicle classification, local implementation and the documents supplied for a specific unit should be confirmed with the selling dealer and the relevant local authority.
The third-party estimates do not resolve the issue consistently. Mumbai’s result summary has no RTO charge, whereas the Thiruvananthapuram estimate displays ₹2,799. Do not add an RTO amount to every Storm ZX quote, and do not assume every quote must omit it. Ask the dealer to identify the legal and administrative basis for any RTO line and to state whether it is mandatory, optional support or an estimate generated by a calculator.
Questions to ask when an RTO line appears
- Which authority or service does the amount represent?
- Is it a statutory payment, dealer-handled support or a provisional estimate?
- Will you receive a registration certificate, number or other document?
- If the scooter is being sold as non-RTO, why is the line present on this invoice?
- Is the amount refundable or adjustable if the authority does not require registration?
Keep the answer in the written quotation. A verbal assurance is difficult to reconcile with the final invoice if the line changes.

How insurance affects the amount you pay
Both city examples list insurance separately from the ex-showroom amount: ₹3,374 in Mumbai and ₹3,357 in Thiruvananthapuram. These are location-specific calculator estimates, not a confirmed Tunwal premium or a buyer-specific policy offer. Premiums can vary with insurer, policy type, coverage, term, taxes and the details entered for the vehicle.
Tunwal says it offers insurance assistance, but the model page does not identify a policy, insurer, coverage schedule or premium that is included in the published ex-showroom price. Before paying, request the policy wording or certificate, the insurer’s name, own-damage and third-party sections, deductibles, term and total premium. Compare the policy’s insured-declared value and exclusions with the dealer’s invoice rather than accepting an unlabeled “insurance” amount.
Other charges: what is and is not established
No separate registration, handling, accessories, documentation or delivery fee is established by the available model and city pages. That does not guarantee that a particular dealer will never quote one; it means you should not add assumed fees to the published price. Require an itemised quotation showing each charge, its tax treatment and whether it is compulsory or optional.

Free home delivery, RTO support and one-year roadside assistance are listed by Tunwal as purchase benefits. Do not convert those inclusions into extra cash charges, and check the service conditions: delivery area, roadside-assistance coverage, response limits and validity date can matter even when the headline service is described as free.

The battery choice changes both the upfront price and the manufacturer-published operating figures. The Lead-Acid 32Ah version costs ₹4,000 more than the Lead-Acid 28Ah version, while the Lithium-ion 30Ah version costs ₹22,524 more than the base version. Both lead-acid variants are listed with a 50–55 km range and 7–8-hour charging time. Lithium-ion is listed with a 70–75 km range and a shorter 4–5-hour charging time.
Those differences can matter if your daily route regularly approaches the lower end of the lead-acid range or if the scooter must be ready again during the same day. They are not a promise of real-world distance: load, speed, temperature, hills, tyre pressure, battery age and riding conditions affect actual results. Ask the dealer whether the quote includes the exact battery chemistry and capacity shown on your order, because the insurance and any local estimate must match that variant.

How to obtain a reliable local on-road quote
- Identify the exact version. Write “Storm ZX Lead-Acid 28Ah,” “Lead-Acid 32Ah” or “Lithium-ion 30Ah” on the enquiry. Do not accept a base-variant total for a higher-priced battery.
- Give the delivery location. Provide your city, postal code and whether delivery is to a home or dealer address. Location is material because the published examples show different RTO treatment.
- Request a dated, itemised quotation. It should show ex-showroom price, insurance premium, any RTO amount, taxes and every optional item separately.
- Challenge unexplained RTO charges. Ask the seller to reconcile the charge with Tunwal’s non-RTO description and to identify the document or authority involved.
- Check the insurance document. Confirm insurer, policy period, coverage, premium and taxes before treating the figure as final.
- Confirm included services in writing. Ask how free delivery, RTO support and one-year roadside assistance apply to your address and vehicle.
- Recheck validity before payment. Prices, premiums, offers and inventory can change. A September 2026 calculator result is not a standing October quote or a guarantee for a later purchase.
Worked budget examples—and their limits
For the base Lead-Acid 28Ah scooter, the Mumbai estimate totals ₹59,367 because it lists ₹55,993 ex-showroom and ₹3,374 insurance with no RTO line. The Thiruvananthapuram estimate totals ₹62,149 because it adds ₹2,799 RTO and ₹3,357 insurance to the same ex-showroom price. These examples are useful for seeing how line items change the total, but they cannot be used to calculate the on-road price of the ₹59,993 Lead-Acid 32Ah or ₹78,517 Lithium-ion 30Ah versions.
For those other variants, the only published amount established here is the ex-showroom price. A dealer must supply the corresponding insurance and any local charge; substituting the base model’s insurance or RTO figure would create a false total.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Calling ₹55,993 the on-road price when it is explicitly ex-showroom.
- Applying the Mumbai total to a different city or battery variant.
- Assuming the Thiruvananthapuram ₹2,799 RTO line applies nationwide.
- Describing a ZigWheels calculator result as a Tunwal quotation.
- Assuming “insurance assistance” means a policy is included at no cost.
- Adding an invented handling, documentation or delivery fee without an itemised invoice.
- Quoting the 50–55 km or 70–75 km range as an independently tested distance.
Buyer checklist before signing
- Variant and battery capacity match the vehicle you inspected.
- Ex-showroom amount matches the current written offer.
- Insurance policy, insurer and premium are identified.
- Any RTO amount has a stated purpose and supporting document.
- Optional accessories are separated from mandatory costs.
- Delivery and roadside-assistance terms are written down.
- Quote date, validity and final payable total are clear.
Bottom line on the Storm ZX on-road price
Use ₹55,993, ₹59,993 and ₹78,517 as the published ex-showroom starting points for the three Storm ZX variants. For the base model, September 2026 city estimates ranged from ₹59,367 in Mumbai to ₹62,149 in Thiruvananthapuram because one showed no RTO line and the other showed ₹2,799. Tunwal’s own position is that the scooter is a non-RTO low-speed two-wheeler, but the conflicting calculator line items make a written local dealer quote essential. Ask the nearest dealer for the current, variant-specific total and verify every insurance and RTO entry before payment.
