Triumph has announced four new model launches for 2027: the Bonneville T40 and T40 Black, the Tiger 1200, the Street Triple 798, and the Tiger 900. The Street Triple 798 is the one aimed at naked-bike riders, but Triumph has not released enough specifications or comparative test evidence to establish that it could be the best naked motorcycle ever. Only the Bonneville pair are fully revealed so far.
What Triumph announced
Triumph’s announcement describes four launches, with the Bonneville T40 and T40 Black counted together as one launch. The other three models are due for separate reveals between October and December 2026. The company says the new Tiger 1200 and Street Triple 798 will also be displayed at EICMA and Motorcycle Live, but it does not give event dates in the announcement.
| Model | What Triumph has confirmed | Reveal or availability timing |
|---|---|---|
| Bonneville T40 and T40 Black | New iteration of Triumph’s 400cc TR Series engine, Bonneville styling and relaxed ergonomics. | Fully revealed; planned global availability in late Spring 2027. |
| Tiger 1200 | Triumph previews a distinctive new look, updated 1200cc triple engine, advanced rider technology and what it calls its most sophisticated suspension package yet. | Unveil scheduled for 27 October 2026. |
| Street Triple 798 | New 798cc engine developed for the 2027 Moto2 championship; Triumph says the specification will be more performance-focused than previous models. | Specification scheduled for 17 November 2026. |
| Tiger 900 | Previewed with a more powerful and refined engine, upgraded chassis, enhanced rider technology and next-generation connectivity as standard. | Full specifications and details scheduled for 15 December 2026. |
Those descriptions are manufacturer previews, not complete specification sheets. Triumph has not announced prices for the models in this release. Its new-motorcycles listing identifies the T40 pair as 2027 models: Triumph’s new motorcycles listing.
Is the Street Triple 798 potentially the best naked motorcycle ever?
It is the clearest candidate behind that headline: the Street Triple is Triumph’s naked roadster family, and the company says the new 798cc engine was developed for the 2027 Moto2 championship. Triumph also positions the bike as more performance-focused than previous models.

That is not enough to call it the best naked motorcycle—or to confirm that it will outperform rivals. Triumph has not published the 798’s power, torque, weight, price, or full equipment specification in this announcement. There are also no independent comparative tests or road-test results to support a ranking. “Potentially the best” is therefore a possibility to assess after the full reveal and testing, not an established result.
How the four launches differ
Bonneville T40 and T40 Black: classic roadster direction
The T40 pair are the only models fully revealed in the announcement. Triumph describes their design as Bonneville-inspired, pairs it with relaxed ergonomics, and confirms a new iteration of its 400cc TR Series engine. The company’s planned global availability of late Spring 2027 is not an exact arrival date for every country.

Tiger 1200 and Tiger 900: adventure-touring direction
Both Tigers are presented as updates to adventure-oriented model families. For the Tiger 1200, Triumph highlights the engine, rider technology and suspension; for the Tiger 900, it previews engine, chassis and connectivity changes. The announcement does not provide enough detail to compare the two Tigers’ performance, equipment, or intended use more precisely.
Street Triple 798: naked-roadster direction
The Street Triple is the road-focused naked bike among these launches. Its 798cc engine and performance positioning are the only specific performance clues in the announcement; the figures and equipment needed for a meaningful comparison are still to come.

What is still unknown—and what to check next
For the Tiger 1200, Street Triple 798 and Tiger 900, the scheduled reveal dates are the next milestones for official specifications. Until then, the announcement does not establish prices, full specifications, or specific market launch timing for those models. For the T40 pair, Triumph has given a broad global availability window, but not country-by-country delivery dates.
- For performance comparisons: wait for published power, torque, weight, gearing and equipment, then look for independent tests rather than relying on promotional positioning alone.
- For a purchase decision: confirm local pricing, availability and final specifications with Triumph or an authorized dealer after the relevant market information is announced.
- For lineup context: Triumph’s current listing includes the Trident 660 and 800, Street Triple 765 RS and RX, and Speed Triple 1200 RS and RX. That lineup gives context, not a direct comparison with the unrevealed 798: Triumph’s new motorcycles listing.
What Triumph’s announcement does—and does not—show
Triumph reports that it delivered 141,683 motorcycles through 950 dealers in 68 countries in FY25, which it defines as July 2024 through June 2025. This is a company-reported figure, not an independent industry measure. It establishes the scale of the manufacturer’s stated dealer network, but it says nothing about the new models’ performance or eventual availability in a particular market.
