They are assigned first to Corridor I, between Mangkang Terminal and Penggaron Terminal. The launch did not mean the whole fleet was immediately in service: the latest report, dated 5 October, said buses were entering service in phases, with all 27 targeted to be running by early November.
Where will the 27 buses run?
The buses are slated for Corridor I, which links Mangkang Terminal in western Semarang with Penggaron Terminal in the east. ANTARA reported the launch and route assignment on 23 September 2026 (ANTARA News).
When will all 27 be in service?
The rollout has been phased. ANTARA initially reported that service would begin on 25 September, while a 24 September report said two buses were operating and gave early November as the target for the full fleet. On 5 October, electrive reported that the first batch had entered service and that the operator still aimed to have all 27 running by early November (electrive). That date is a target, not confirmation that all the buses are already operating.
What are the buses like, and who built them?
ANTARA describes the vehicles as 12 metres long, low-deck buses with capacity for up to 60 passengers. The city said the lower floor is intended to make boarding easier for disabled passengers and people with limited mobility. The reporting does not establish specific accessibility equipment or a step-free boarding arrangement at every stop.

According to electrive’s 5 October report, VKTR assembles the buses and Laksana manufactures their bodies. The report attributes technical specifications to company representatives: the first two vehicles were described as having approximately 340 kWh of battery capacity and a stated range of up to 250 km per charge. Laksana Technical Director Stefan Arman gave a more conservative estimated operating range of 200–240 km with the charge-management practice he described. These are company-reported figures, not independent test results.
How should the range and cost claims be read?
The reported range figures are not a single verified measure of how far every bus will travel in service. Electrive reports the up-to-250-km figure for the first two vehicles and Arman’s 200–240-km operating estimate. Separately, ANTARA quoted Trans Semarang head Haris Setyo Yunanto giving a figure of roughly 300 km per charge. The reports do not provide standardized test conditions that would reconcile these claims, so none should be treated as independently established real-world range.

ANTARA also reported a claim of approximately 19% lower operating costs than fuel-powered buses. That is a city/operator claim rather than an independently audited comparison; the report does not specify the calculation method or operating assumptions.

Trans Semarang has discussed renewing Corridor 5, between Meteseh and PTPP, with electric buses in 2027. ANTARA reported that the operator expected to propose 18 buses and was considering high-deck vehicles for the route because it crosses railway tracks. This is a prospective proposal, not a confirmed procurement or delivery. The operator also estimated that electrifying the entire fleet would take at least five years.

The 27-bus deployment should also be distinguished from an earlier trial. In March 2026, INVI announced an operational trial using HIGER-branded buses across main BRT, feeder and night services, including Mangkang–Penggaron. That separate trial does not establish that HIGER supplied the 27 VKTR/Laksana buses.
