Trans Am Worldwide’s 2017 Trans Am 455 Super Duty was a limited-run, builder-created modern Firebird—not a new Pontiac from General Motors. It paired GM Alpha-platform underpinnings with Firebird Trans Am-inspired styling and a manufacturer-reported 1,000 hp.
What was the 2017 Trans Am 455 Super Duty?
Trans Am Worldwide unveiled the 455 Super Duty at the 2017 New York Auto Show. It reworked the contemporary GM Alpha platform—the architecture shared with then-current Camaro and Cadillac models—into a car with retro Firebird Trans Am styling. The name and design evoke Pontiac’s classic muscle car, but this was a conversion created by Trans Am Worldwide, not a factory Pontiac revival. New Atlas’s 2017 coverage and AutoIndustriya’s report from April 18, 2017 describe the unveiling and its Camaro-related underpinnings.
Trans Am Worldwide co-founder Tod Warmack described the design as “a complete re-design that features sleek body lines with masculine proportions and traditional retro styling,” as quoted by AutoIndustriya.
How much power did it claim?
The Super Duty used a modified 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) LT1 V8 with a 2.3-liter Magnuson supercharger. Trans Am Worldwide’s 2017 announcement gave the car a claimed output of 1,000 hp and 1,046 lb-ft of torque. Those are manufacturer-reported specifications; the cited coverage does not provide independent dyno results or acceleration testing. The company described the build as a collaboration involving Trans Am Worldwide, Magnuson Superchargers and a NASCAR engine builder. The company’s Super Duty press release carries its own description of the project and output.

What equipment set the Super Duty apart?
New Atlas reported carbon-fiber body panels and ground effects, one-inch-lowered springs, anti-roll bars, 20-inch wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. T-tops and Brembo performance brakes were listed as options. The reviewed 2017 coverage does not establish the tires’ exact size, so check the vehicle’s documentation and fitment before buying replacements.
How many were built, and can you buy one now?
Trans Am Worldwide’s 2017 press release specified a production run of 50 cars. The company’s media page later described the limited Super Duty edition as sold out. That confirms the edition’s original limited-run status, but it does not establish whether a used example is currently for sale, its condition or its asking price. The cited material also does not state the original purchase price. Trans Am Worldwide’s media page records the later sold-out status.

How did the Super Duty differ from the 2017 Outlaw?
The Outlaw was a separate Trans Am Worldwide build with similar styling, not another name for the Super Duty. New Atlas reported 602 hp and 625 lb-ft for the Outlaw, compared with the Super Duty’s claimed 1,000 hp and 1,046 lb-ft. AutoIndustriya noted that the Outlaw’s body-kit components were not lightweight carbon fiber, unlike the Super Duty’s reported carbon-fiber panels.

The figures describe separate 2017 models and are reported specifications, not independent test results. Current Trans Am Worldwide offerings are later editions; their specifications should not be assumed to apply to the 2017 Super Duty. The company’s current models page describes those other editions.
