The hardtop fits over a concealed soft top, so the car retains its convertible setup.
What the Trans Am Worldwide 70/SS is
The 70/SS is a bespoke modern tribute from Trans Am Worldwide, not a new Chevrolet production model. The company describes it as a 1970 Chevelle Super Sport-inspired car built on a modern platform. Its official product page describes three trim packages and a range of performance and appearance options.
GM Authority reported in May 2022 that the car would likely use the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro platform. That is the outlet’s account; Trans Am Worldwide’s product page does not identify the donor platform. GM Authority’s report provides that context.
What was different about the first hardtop example?
Motorious reported on November 12, 2024, that the 70/SS was introduced at SEMA that year in Fathom Blue Metallic with Pearl White rally stripes. The hardtop was designed to sit above a concealed soft top. According to the report, removing the hardtop lets the soft top operate.

Motorious also described two-tone upholstery, blue stitching, custom 70/SS badging and matching carpet in the car’s interior. These are details reported about the SEMA example, rather than independently verified specifications. Read Motorious’s SEMA report.
How the hardtop fits into the 70/SS lineup
The hardtop debut followed the 2022 launch announcement; it was not the model’s original introduction. In its May 9, 2022 release, Trans Am Worldwide described the 70/SS as a convertible with an optional removable hardtop. SEMA’s 2022 announcement likewise described convertible construction and said the car went on sale to the public on May 14, 2022.

What engines and performance options were announced?
Trans Am Worldwide’s launch-era figures are company claims, not independent test results or confirmed current specifications. The company’s May 2022 release listed an LT-1 6.2-liter engine rated at 450 hp, a 396-cubic-inch option, and an LS6/X 454 option it said would produce more than 1,500 rear-wheel horsepower. The release said the LS6/X option would be limited to 25 units. Its current product page also describes a 450-hp LT1 starting point, a 396 option and an LS6/X twin-turbo 454 described as making 1,500 rear-wheel horsepower; offerings may change.
The 2022 release said both manual and automatic transmissions would be available. It also listed customization choices including brakes, wheels, graphics, carbon-fiber options and custom paint. The sources do not provide controlled performance comparisons between engines or transmission types, so the figures should not be read as proof of comparative track or road performance.

The 70/SS was announced in 2022 and went on sale to the public on May 14 that year, according to SEMA. The first hardtop example was a later development reported at the 2024 SEMA Show. Trans Am Worldwide co-founder Tod Warmack described the project in the 2022 release as “a project 7 years in the making,” and said, “Our engineers and technicians have invested thousands of hours to re-imagine this automotive icon on a modern platform.” Those are Warmack’s statements, not independently verified production or labor figures.
