No, you can’t buy Toyota’s V8 Supra Supercars car. Toyota developed a GEN3 GR Supra Supercar as a competition entry in the Repco Supercars Championship from 2026, and it identified the 2UR-GSE all-aluminium, quad-cam V8 as the baseline engine. Toyota has announced no public sale of the racecar. Its current road-going GR Supra page also says the road car is not available for purchase.
What Toyota built for Supercars
Toyota Australia announced that it would enter the Repco Supercars Championship from 2026 with the GR Supra, and it framed the program as a five-year commitment. Design work was carried out by Toyota’s in-house design team at Altona, which used CAD and virtual reality before producing a scale clay model. Walkinshaw Andretti United (WAU) is the homologation team partner named in the announcement.
The engine: a baseline, not a finished race specification
Toyota names the 2UR-GSE all-aluminium, quad-cam V8 as the baseline engine for the car. The word “baseline” is deliberate. Toyota’s announcement does not provide a full final technical specification for the race engine, so the V8 should be read as the engine family Toyota started from rather than a list of confirmed race-tuned figures.
Teams and cars on the 2026 grid
Toyota’s reveal announced six GR Supra Supercars for the 2026 grid, split between two teams:
#1 Best Overall
- 1: 24 scale
- Glue and Paint sold separately
- Plastic Model Kit-Assembly Required
- TAM24123
| Team | Cars | Drivers as announced | Status in Toyota’s reveal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walkinshaw Andretti United (WAU) | 2 | Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood | Named in the reveal |
| Brad Jones Racing (BJR) | 4 | Not named | Driver line-up was to be confirmed closer to the start of the season |
Supercars’ September 2024 report discussed Toyota’s original plan to add a second team. The later reveal named BJR as that team and is the stronger source for the six-car allocation. Driver assignments change between seasons, so confirm the current entry list with Supercars before describing any driver as racing for a given team.
Why the racecar is not a road car
The Supra name and body shape do not make the Supercars car a showroom V8 Supra. Toyota announced it as a competition car built with a homologation partner and race teams, and its public appearance was described as an event display and demonstration rather than a sales launch.

The road-going GR Supra is a separate product with its own availability. Toyota said it would stop taking orders for the current generation in August 2025, after six years on sale in Australia. Its current model page says the road car is not available for purchase. Those statements cover the current-generation road model only. They do not rule out a future Toyota road Supra, and they do not rule out buying a used example.
The Bathurst display was a 2025 plan
Toyota’s reveal said the Supercar would make its public debut at Mount Panorama during the 2025 Repco Bathurst 1000, with display and demonstration laps, and that further activity was planned at the remaining 2025 rounds. That was the plan announced at the time. It is not a current event listing and not a guarantee of future public access.

What is and is not established
- Established: the Supercars car is a competition-only GEN3 GR Supra program; the V8 is the baseline engine; six cars were announced, two with WAU and four with BJR; the road GR Supra is not available for purchase from Toyota.
- Not established in Toyota’s announcements: the final race-engine specification, the current driver line-up for every car, the race-by-race record of the program, and any public viewing schedule for 2026 or later.
Because the announcements describe plans rather than a live schedule, check the current Supercars entry list and event calendar, and Toyota Australia’s current GR Supra pages, before relying on any detail that depends on the date.
