Toyota’s 2025 Goodwood preview focused on rally cars, hydrogen projects and the GR Yaris Aero Performance—not the GT cars later associated with the event. Those arrived under their official names after Toyota announced the GR GT, GR GT3 and Lexus LFA Concept in December 2025. At the 2026 Festival of Speed, Toyota and Lexus presented them as prototypes and development vehicles, not confirmed retail models.
What Toyota announced for Goodwood in 2025
Toyota UK’s 27 June 2025 preview covered a planned Festival of Speed display scheduled for 10–13 July. Its list included the GR Yaris Rally1 and Rally2, GR DKR Hilux EVO, liquid-hydrogen GR LH2 Racing Concept, a hydrogen fuel-cell Hilux prototype and the GR Yaris Aero Performance. It did not announce the later GR GT or GR GT3. Toyota’s 2025 Goodwood preview also described the GR Yaris Aero Performance package: an adjustable rear wing, front fender ducts, front lip spoiler, rear floor cover, lower-bumper vents and a bonnet vent, alongside a rally-style vertical handbrake. These details belong to the GR Yaris, not the GT prototypes.

The announcement reflected Toyota’s broader link between motorsport and road-car development, but its 2025 display should not be confused with the later GT-car news.
What the later official names mean
On 5 December 2025, Toyota Motor Corporation announced the world premiere of three vehicles: GR GT, GR GT3 and Lexus LFA Concept. The name “Lexus LFR” fits the earlier preview-era wording in the assignment’s title; the official release reviewed here names the concept the LFA Concept. Toyota’s world-premiere announcement sets out their distinct roles:

How the GR GT and GR GT3 differ
GR GT: the road-going flagship
Toyota describes the GR GT as front-engine and rear-wheel drive, with its first all-aluminum body frame. Its powertrain includes a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 with dry-sump lubrication, a carbon-fiber torque tube and a rear transaxle containing an eight-speed automatic transmission, a single electric motor and a mechanical limited-slip differential. These are manufacturer-reported specifications, not independent performance measurements.
GR GT3: the customer-racing derivative
The GR GT3 draws its frame, suspension and V8 from the GR GT, but is designed for competition under FIA GT3 regulations. Toyota said it was preparing a customer-support system for worldwide GT3 racing; that is a stated intention, not evidence that the car had already entered customer competition.

What the Lexus LFA Concept represents
Lexus positioned the LFA Concept as a battery-electric sports-car concept. The company said it aims to evolve the original LFA’s spirit and balance styling with driving performance. Goodwood later described it as sharing technologies with the GR GT and GR GT3. That relationship does not make the LFA Concept another GR GT variant: it remains a Lexus concept with its own stated electric sports-car direction.

What visitors saw at the 2026 Festival of Speed
Goodwood’s 24 June 2026 preview said the GR GT and GR GT3 would make uncamouflaged dynamic appearances outside Asia, while the LFA Concept would be displayed publicly at the 2026 Festival of Speed. Toyota’s 15 July post-event report said the GR GT and GR GT3 demonstrated on the hill climb and the LFA Concept made a dynamic appearance. Toyota explicitly characterized the cars involved as prototypes or development vehicles. Goodwood’s 2026 preview and Toyota’s post-event report therefore establish a public, dynamic showing—not retail availability or confirmation of final production specifications.

How Toyota says it is developing the cars
Toyota says all three vehicles were developed around a low center of gravity, low weight with high rigidity, and aerodynamic performance. Those are the manufacturer’s stated development priorities, not independently verified test results. Its December 2025 release also described a cycle of “hone, drive to failure, and repair” for refining the GR GT. That is Toyota’s account of its development process; it does not establish production readiness or a launch date.
