Toyota’s bZ Time Attack Concept is a one-off electric motorsports prototype built from the 2026 bZ AWD to explore time-attack and hill-climb performance. Toyota says its R&D-tuned motors deliver more than 300 kW (400+ hp) to all four wheels, alongside major chassis, brake, safety and aerodynamic changes. The company has not published a lap time or independent test result for the car.
What is the Toyota bZ Time Attack Concept?
Toyota announced the concept on October 31, 2025, ahead of its appearance at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The company called it its first battery-electric SEMA concept build and described it as purpose-built for time-attack circuits and hill climbs—a “rolling test bed for the next generation of EV motorsport development.”
The project starts with the 2026 Toyota bZ AWD. Toyota lists the standard AWD model at 338 horsepower and a 0–60 mph time of 4.9 seconds. Those are manufacturer-stated specifications for the showroom vehicle, not test results for the modified concept. Toyota’s announcement gives the concept’s equipment and stated output but no measured acceleration or track performance.
How much power does it make?
Toyota says R&D-tuned electric motors produce over 300 kW, or 400+ hp, and send power to all four wheels. Bespoke ECU calibration manages the motors. The published figure is Toyota’s stated specification; the company does not provide an independent measurement or explain a test method.

What did Toyota change for track use?
A lower, wider chassis
The concept sits six inches lower than stock and has a six-inch increase in track width, according to Toyota. TEIN coilovers and springs are part of the suspension setup. Toyota does not publish alignment settings, suspension rates or other details that would let readers reproduce the handling configuration.
Aerodynamics
The bodywork adds a rear wing, side skirts, a front splitter and a rear diffuser. Toyota describes these as an integrated aerodynamic package, but does not state a downforce figure, drag coefficient or other measured aero result.

Brakes, wheels and tires
Toyota says the Alcon braking system with Hawk pads was adapted from its Toyota 86 Cup and Corolla TC race programs. The concept uses 19×11-inch BBS Unlimited wheels and 305/30ZR19 XL Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 tires. These are specifications for this extensively modified prototype; Toyota does not say they fit a stock bZ.
Competition safety equipment
The cabin includes an FIA-spec 4130 chromoly cage, OMP HTE-R racing seats and OMP harnesses. Toyota presents these as part of the motorsports build, not as equipment offered on the road-going bZ.

How was the one-off body developed?
Toyota says its R&D and TRD teams, working with suppliers, used laser scanning, CAD development and large-scale 3D printing. Fender arches were digitally modeled and printed at full scale before being hand-finished. Toyota’s Add Lab in Georgetown, Kentucky, supported rapid prototyping of the widebody and aerodynamic parts.
Toyota says this workflow reduced prototyping time and made it possible to iterate on the design, but it does not quantify the time saved. Lead builder Marty Schwerter, director of operations at Toyota’s Motorsports Technical Center, said the aim was to see how far the new bZ platform could be pushed in a motorsport setting, rather than simply create a show car.

Is it a production car or a confirmed race entrant?
No. Toyota describes the bZ Time Attack as a special-project prototype, modified with parts or accessories that are not available from Toyota. Its announcement does not identify a race entry, a competition schedule, or a customer version. Nor does it provide a lap time, race result, competition-use range or quantified downforce figure, so the published specifications do not establish how it compares with other time-attack cars.
Toyota also warns that modifications may void the warranty, negatively affect performance and safety, and may mean the vehicle is not street legal. The concept’s parts list should not be read as a fitment guide or upgrade package for a production bZ.

When and where was it shown?
Toyota said the concept would be displayed at its booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center from November 4–7, 2025, during SEMA. Those dates refer to the past event, not a current exhibition schedule. Toyota’s broader SEMA 2025 overview also covered the company’s presence at the show.
