Its most unusual feature, shown at Overland Expo West in 2024, was an optional hatch beneath a cabover-bed cushion that connected the camper to the truck cab. It is a design feature—not a tested escape system or a reason to travel between the bed and cab while driving.
What is the Toyota TrekTwo?
World Travel Vehicles (WTV), based in Durango, Colorado, introduced the TrekTwo as an Americanized version of the Oman off-road truck camper built by German company Burow RV. New Atlas reported on the show vehicle on June 14, 2024, noting that Burow had built the Oman series since 2016 and had produced more than 1,000 models by then. The TrekTwo used a Toyota Tacoma as its U.S. base, rather than the Ford Ranger used for the Oman in Europe. The show model debuted at Overland Expo West 2024. New Atlas’s 2024 report is the source for the TrekTwo details below.
How the bed-to-cab hatch works
The optional pass-through is set below a removable cushion in the cabover bed. New Atlas reported a bed area of 79.5 × 53 inches (202 × 135 cm) and described a flip-up hatch that opens into the Tacoma cab. Its gallery caption says WTV cuts an opening in the truck cab and installs a gasket for weather protection.
That description establishes the reported layout, not its safety performance. The available account does not test how quickly someone could use it, whether it would help in an emergency, or what effect the modification has on the truck’s structure. The headline’s “trapdoor” and “escape” framing should not be read as a safety certification or a recommendation to use the opening while the vehicle is moving.

Inside the 2024 show vehicle
Kitchen and bathroom
The entry is at the rear on the passenger side. The kitchen has a sink, a long countertop and a dual-burner gas stove with a hinged lid that can serve as extra counter space when closed. An 80-liter compressor refrigerator sits on the opposite wall. The wet bathroom includes a composting toilet, shower and slide-out sink; the show vehicle also had a stone backsplash and wood shower floor.
Dining and sleeping
A short hallway leads to a raised dinette with two benches and a small table. WTV offered the option of converting the dinette into a single bed. The main transverse bed sits above the cab and uses a Froli spring system for support; the reported 79.5 × 53-inch area refers to this cabover bed.

Power, cooking and climate
New Atlas listed the show vehicle’s standard electrical package as a 400-Ah lithium battery, a 3,500-W inverter/mains charger, two Victron charge boosters connected to the truck alternator, and 450 W of solar. An optional configuration replaced the propane cooking setup with an induction cooktop and a larger 600-Ah battery. An Elwell gasoline heater supplied cabin heat and hot water, while air conditioning was optional.
These are specifications reported for the 2024 show vehicle. They do not establish what WTV currently includes as standard or offers as options.

Price, build process and Tacoma fitment
New Atlas reported that WTV quoted US$295,000 for the show model, including the Tacoma base, at Overland Expo West 2024. That is a dated event quote, not a verified current price. The report said buyers would supply the truck, Burow would build the motorhome components in Germany, and WTV would complete the turnkey camper in Colorado. WTV was starting with third-generation Tacoma models.
Current production or order availability, present-day pricing and compatibility with later Tacoma generations are not established by that report. Toyota’s November 13, 2025 release for the 2026 Tacoma identifies it as a fourth-generation truck, offered with gasoline and hybrid powertrains, XtraCab or Double Cab bodies, and 5- or 6-foot beds. Toyota lists lineup maximums of 6,500 lb for towing and 1,705 lb for payload, with actual capability depending on configuration. Those truck figures do not confirm TrekTwo fitment or approve a particular camper load.

What to verify before considering one
For a current Tacoma, ask WTV to confirm compatibility with the exact truck configuration and check the vehicle’s own ratings before purchase. Toyota’s lineup maximum payload is not a substitute for the payload shown on that truck’s door label. Ask the builder for the camper’s loaded weight and dimensions, current delivered price, and the equipment included in that price; the 2024 report does not provide those details.
When comparing the TrekTwo with another expedition camper, useful points include truck generation and fitment, loaded weight, sleeping capacity, bathroom facilities, whether a cab pass-through is offered, electrical storage and charging, cooking and heating fuels, and total current cost. Confirm each figure with the builder rather than inferring it from the show vehicle description.
