What did the 2023 Rio cost new?
Kia America’s September 29, 2022 announcement listed these original US MSRPs, excluding the stated $1,155 destination charge. They are historical launch prices, not current used-car valuations. Kia’s dated announcement

There is a discrepancy across Kia sources: the dated announcement gives the S 5-Door price as $17,490, while Kia’s 2023 5-Door pricing page surfaces $17,690 and lists a $1,155 destination charge. Which body style should you choose?
Rio sedan
The sedan has 13.7 cubic feet of cargo volume with the rear seats up, according to Kia’s specifications. Kia lists passenger volume at 89.9 cubic feet. Kia 2023 Rio specifications
Rio 5-Door hatchback
The hatchback is the alternative body style in the 2023 US lineup, sold as an S. The cited Kia specification excerpt does not provide a directly comparable cargo-volume figure for it, so the sedan’s 13.7-cubic-foot figure should not be applied to the hatchback. Check the specific car and its available cargo space in person if carrying capacity is central to your choice.

Kia specifies a 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder Gamma MPI engine producing 120 hp at 6,300 rpm and 112 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. The manufacturer calls for regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher. Trim, equipment, and photos
The 2023 US lineup covered by Kia’s materials consists of the LX sedan, S sedan, and S 5-Door. Features shown in Kia’s model imagery or brochure—such as an 8-inch touchscreen and rear-view monitor—should not be assumed on every car. Equipment depends on trim and package; Kia’s S Technology Package includes several driver-assistance features that its announcement described as optional. Review the actual vehicle’s equipment list and verify that each feature is present and working.

Kia’s 2023 Rio overview and 2023 Rio 5-Door page provide model imagery. Photos help identify body style and appearance, but they are not proof that a particular used car has pictured optional equipment.

- Compare the sedan and 5-Door based on the body style and cargo access you need; do not infer hatchback cargo capacity from the sedan specification.
- Check the exact trim and package rather than assuming driver-assistance or infotainment features are standard.
- For a used car, assess condition, service records, mileage, and the specific seller’s asking price. The original MSRP does not establish what the car is worth now.
If you are buying floor mats
Fitment must match the model year, body style, trim, retention points, and pedal clearance. Kia’s 2023 5-Door page lists carpet floor mats as a $155 port-installed option, but that does not establish fitment for every Rio. One Kia parts search result for carpet mat part K0F14AC000 explicitly says it does not fit the 2023 Rio, so do not rely on a generic listing or that part number as a confirmed match. Kia’s owner manual recommends only a Kia floor mat designed for the vehicle, directs owners to secure mats to floor anchors, and warns against mats that cannot be firmly attached or stacking mats. These precautions help prevent interference with pedal operation. Kia owner manuals
