A 2020 report by Greek automotive outlet gocar.gr says a Toyota Supra completed an elk-avoidance maneuver at 77 km/h, but struck cones when the speed rose to 80 km/h. The report attributes the test to Spanish outlet KM77; the original test page or video is not available here, so these are reported results rather than independently verified measurements.
What happened in the Toyota Supra moose test?
In its 6 August 2020 article, gocar.gr reported that the Supra remained composed through the avoidance maneuver at 77 km/h. The account describes understeer and says the car’s safety systems limited loss of rear-wheel traction.
At 80 km/h, the driver reportedly could not maintain full control and hit cones. The same article says the Supra then performed well in a slalom. It does not give a slalom speed or a detailed protocol, so that description should be treated as a qualitative observation, not a comparable score.
How to interpret the 77 and 80 km/h figures
The three-kilometre-per-hour difference creates a striking contrast in the report: successful passage at 77 km/h, followed by cone contact at 80 km/h. It does not establish a universal maximum speed for the Supra in an elk test. A result can depend on the individual car and its setup, the course, tires, load, conditions, and driver inputs.

Important test details are not identified in gocar.gr’s account, including the exact model year and trim, tire specification, vehicle load, and complete run protocol. The KM77 original record was not recovered, so the reported speeds and descriptions cannot be checked against primary footage or documentation.
What this says—and does not say—about the GR Supra
The account’s description of understeer and safety-system intervention helps explain how the car behaved during those reported runs. But a single avoidance-test report is not a safety rating, and it is not evidence that every Supra will respond the same way in an emergency. Nor is this a controlled comparison with another car: the available account supplies no matched vehicle, course, tires, load, or conditions for a head-to-head result.

Which Supra was tested?
The report does not specify the tested car’s exact configuration. Toyota’s launch-era description identifies the fifth-generation GR Supra as a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car, and lists the launch-era 3.0-litre inline-six at 340 DIN hp and 500 Nm. Those are historical manufacturer specifications, not confirmation of the car in the 2020 test. Toyota Europe’s launch announcement provides that context.
Toyota announced additional variants and updates in 2025, including the A90 Final Edition and Lightweight EVO. That later model information does not identify the test car; specifications and availability vary by market and model year. See Toyota Europe’s 2025 announcement for the update details.
