Toyota’s December 1, 2025 revision of the Japan-market Century sedan brings an 8-inch HD display-audio system with connected-navigation compatibility and expanded driver-assistance functions. Toyota’s announcement does not establish “2026” as a model-year designation for this update, so the clearest description is the December 2025 Japan-market revision.
What changed on the Toyota Century sedan?
Toyota announced the revision on December 1, 2025, saying it had revised and released the Century sedan that day. The company’s announcement highlights updated display audio and additions or expanded operation in safety-assistance features. It does not identify this as a distinct 2026 model-year update. The applicable scope is Toyota’s Japan-market sedan; equipment and availability should not be assumed to match other markets.
Toyota lists an 8-inch HD display for the Display Audio (Connected Navigation compatible) Plus system. The reviewed Toyota material does not establish the previous sedan’s screen size, so it is not possible to say from these sources whether the display grew or shrank.
Does the revised Century have a new infotainment system?
Display and navigation
The December 2025 equipment list specifies an 8-inch HD display-audio unit compatible with connected navigation. Toyota lists the configuration, but does not provide comparative testing showing that it is faster, easier to use, or otherwise better than the preceding system.
#1 Best Overall
- An import from Aoshima
- Features a height-adjustable chassis
- Window frame masking stickers included
Phone and media connections
Toyota’s equipment document lists Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Miracast, USB input for media and charging, and Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio. For wired phone connections, check the vehicle’s port and your phone’s connector before choosing a cable; Toyota cautions that some cables may not work. Its USB-port FAQ provides Toyota’s guidance.
What safety features does Toyota highlight?
Pre-Collision Safety
Toyota’s release highlights expanded Pre-Collision Safety operation in several situations. The listed functions include detection of pedestrians and cyclists, motorcycles, and crossing or turning situations at intersections. It also describes emergency steering support and low-speed acceleration suppression. These are driver-assistance functions, not autonomous driving or a guarantee that a collision will be avoided.

Proactive Driving Assist
The update also highlights Proactive Driving Assist support that can steer or decelerate in specified situations, including when responding to road users, curves, and lane-internal driving. Toyota describes these functions as assistance; the driver remains responsible for monitoring the road and controlling the vehicle.
Other systems listed for the current sedan
Toyota’s current Century sedan safety page also describes blind-spot monitoring, safe-exit assistance, rear-approach warning, and other systems. Their presence on that page does not mean each one was newly added in the December revision; Toyota’s update announcement is the more specific reference for what it says changed.

Can the Century’s safety software update over the air?
Toyota says some Toyota Safety Sense programs can receive wireless software updates through the vehicle’s data communication module without a dealer visit. Toyota states that a T-Connect contract is required for wireless software updates. This should not be taken to mean that every safety or infotainment function is updated over the air.
