How do domestic sales differ from total sales?
TKM’s official release separates domestic sales from exports. Adding the 3,191 export units to 25,027 domestic units gives a September total of 28,218. RushLane compared that total with 31,091 in September 2025 and reported a 9.24% year-over-year decline.

These are different comparisons: the 7.61% figure should not be applied to total sales, and the 9.24% figure should not be described as the domestic-sales decline.

The September decline came during a year in which TKM’s cumulative January–September volume remained above the same period in 2025. The company’s official release reports these figures, with year-to-date growth rounded to whole percentages:

The figures distinguish the domestic and export trends: cumulative domestic sales were higher year over year, while cumulative exports were lower. TKM’s release does not provide a model-by-model sales breakdown that would show which vehicles contributed to the September result.

TKM reported 28,410 domestic units for August 2026. That is 3,383 more than September’s 25,027 domestic units, but it is a month-to-month comparison, not the year-over-year calculation behind the 7.61% figure. It also compares like with like—domestic sales in both months. Comparing August domestic sales with September’s 28,218 total, which includes exports, would mix measures.

What did Toyota say about September?

As we enter the festive season, we remain committed to strengthening customer engagement and working closely with our dealer partners to deliver enhanced mobility experiences and address evolving customer needs.”
This is management’s characterization of customer interest and its stated priorities. The release does not quantify a cause for the sales decline or connect it to a specific model, market factor, or other explanation.

What the release does—and does not—say about Toyota’s lineup
TKM’s release gives manufacturing and lineup context, not September model sales. It says its two plants are in Bidadi. The first plant lists the Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Legender; the second lists the Camry Hybrid, Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Hilux. The release also names the Glanza, Rumion, Urban Cruiser Taisor and Urban Cruiser Ebella, and identifies the Vellfire and LC 300 as imported complete-built units. None of those references establishes how many of any model sold in September or which models drove the change.
