Toyota Glanza vs Maruti Baleno: price, features, mileage and service costs (2026)

The new 2026 Toyota Glanza and current Maruti Suzuki Baleno share similar certified petrol efficiency, but prices, trim equipment and service costs require a same-city, like-for-like comparison.

The 2026 Toyota Glanza and the current Maruti Suzuki Baleno are close enough on claimed petrol efficiency to require a trim-by-trim comparison, but the evidence available on 16 October 2026 does not support naming one an outright winner. Toyota has announced a new-generation Glanza, while its complete variant prices and allocations are still to be published. Baleno has a detailed, established variant menu and city-specific prices. Compare equivalent fuel, transmission, safety equipment and on-road quotations rather than relying on the headline starting price.

What is actually being compared?

This is a comparison between Toyota’s newly announced 2026 Glanza and the current Maruti Suzuki Baleno sold through NEXA. Toyota announced the new Glanza on 14 October 2026. Bookings opened on 15 October for ₹11,000, and deliveries are expected from the first week of November. Because the announcement gives only a starting price and not a complete grade-wise price list, a final value verdict must wait for the full variant matrix and city quotations.

The Baleno information available now comes from NEXA’s current model and price pages. Those pages identify 13 variants, including petrol manual and automated-manual-transmission (AMT) versions plus Delta and Zeta CNG versions with manual and AGS choices. The displayed prices cited below are from Ghaziabad, so they are examples of one city’s ex-showroom listings, not national on-road prices.

Price, launch timing and what the numbers mean

Car and version Published figure What it represents
2026 Toyota Glanza ₹6,99,000 Toyota’s announced starting ex-showroom price for the new generation; the announcement does not provide the complete variant range.
2026 Toyota Glanza booking ₹11,000 Booking amount announced from 15 October 2026; confirm payment, cancellation and allocation terms with Toyota.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Alpha (O) AGS ₹9,99,000 Ghaziabad NEXA page figure; ex-showroom variant-card price, not an all-India or on-road price.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Alpha (O) MT ₹9,49,900 Ghaziabad NEXA page figure; ex-showroom variant-card price.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno Zeta CNG + AGS ₹9,32,400 Ghaziabad NEXA page figure; ex-showroom variant-card price.

Ex-showroom amounts exclude registration, insurance, taxes or other local charges. The same trim can therefore produce materially different on-road totals between cities. The ₹6,99,000 Glanza figure should not be read as the price of a specified automatic, CNG or top-grade car; Toyota has not supplied those corresponding prices in the launch announcement.

For a meaningful purchase comparison, ask both dealers for written, same-city quotations that show the exact grade, fuel, transmission, insurance choice, registration, accessories and every fee. Compare the resulting on-road totals, not one car’s starting ex-showroom figure with the other’s upper-trim listing.

What Toyota has announced, and what remains unknown

Toyota Kirloskar Motor describes the new Glanza as a sharper, sportier and more premium-generation update. Deputy Managing Director Tadashi Asazuma said the 2026 model combines that design direction with advanced safety technology. That is Toyota’s promotional positioning, not an independent road test, so equipment and ownership claims should be checked against the production car and its warranty documents.

The 14 October announcement confirms the starting price, booking date, expected delivery window, engine outputs, certified petrol figures, headline equipment and warranty terms. It does not publish a complete grade-by-grade price ladder, exact allocation of every feature, or a paid-service schedule. Those omissions matter if you are deciding between a base Glanza and a high-grade Baleno. Wait for Toyota’s variant matrix or obtain a written dealer specification sheet before treating a feature as included.

Bookings opened on 15 October at ₹11,000. Before transferring money, ask whether the amount is refundable, how it is adjusted against the invoice, whether the quoted price is protected, and what happens if the selected grade is unavailable. Confirm the expected first-week-of-November delivery in writing rather than relying on a verbal estimate.

The petrol figures shown for the new Glanza and the listed Baleno versions are numerically the same, so the certificate does not create a mileage winner. Actual consumption depends on traffic, temperature, tyre pressures, passenger load, air-conditioning use, driving style and fuel quality. Treat the figures as a common test-cycle reference.

CNG deserves a separate calculation. A petrol result in kilometres per litre and a CNG result in kilometres per kilogram use different fuels and units. To estimate annual cost, use your local petrol and CNG prices, expected distance, the exact certified figure for the chosen grade and the time lost or added at refuelling points. Do not multiply the CNG number by a petrol price.

The new Glanza’s three-cylinder Z12E specification must also be kept separate from the outgoing car. Toyota lists 61 kW and 112.4 Nm for the new petrol engine, while the earlier configuration used a 1,197 cc four-cylinder engine. Engine output, cylinder count and certified economy are model-year identifiers, not interchangeable trivia.

Features and safety: availability depends on the grade

Toyota’s launch announcement names an extensive equipment list for the new Glanza, but it does not attach every item to a specific grade. NEXA similarly highlights selected Baleno equipment while the brochure confirms some safety items as standard. A dealer’s current variant matrix is essential before paying a booking amount.

Equipment or safety item New Glanza evidence Baleno evidence Buying check
Level 2 ADAS Named in Toyota’s announcement. NEXA highlights it on selected petrol models. Confirm the exact grade, sensors, warning functions and whether the feature can be disabled or adjusted.
Airbags Six airbags named in the announcement. The Baleno brochure states six airbags are standard. Verify the brochure year and production specification on the vehicle offered.
360-degree camera Named in Toyota’s announcement. Not established as standard across the Baleno range in the cited information. Check the grade and camera display during the demonstration.
Ventilated front seats Named in Toyota’s announcement. NEXA lists ventilated seats on selected models. Ask whether both front seats are ventilated and on which grades.
Wireless smartphone charging Named in Toyota’s announcement. Grade allocation not established here. Test your phone for fit, charging compatibility and heat management.
Head-up display Named in Toyota’s announcement. Grade allocation not established here. Check display readability with your seating position and polarized sunglasses.
Infotainment 22.86 cm Smart Playcast Pro screen named by Toyota. Current NEXA page lists model equipment but the cited information does not establish a like-for-like screen specification for every grade. Compare screen size, camera integration, navigation and phone-projection support on the exact cars.
Climate and rear-seat convenience Automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a 60:40 split rear seat are named. Exact grade allocation is not established in the cited information. Inspect the rear vents, seat split, charging points and boot access in person.
Other Glanza equipment Tilt-and-telescopic steering, dual-tone cabin, TPMS and High Beam Assist are named. The brochure describes Suzuki-TECT body, ESP and child-seat anchorages as part of the safety shield. Separate standard safety equipment from convenience features that require a higher grade.

Level 2 ADAS is a driver-assistance package, not autonomous driving. It can support tasks such as warnings or controlled assistance only within its operating limits; the driver remains responsible. During a test drive, check how alerts behave in your usual traffic and whether the system has clear settings for lane markings, following distance and emergency warnings.

For either car, photograph the displayed equipment list and note the vehicle identification number once a car is allocated. A showroom demonstrator may be a higher grade than the car being quoted. Check that the camera, HUD, seat ventilation, rear vents and charging hardware are physically present rather than merely shown in a brochure image.

Warranty, maintenance and the service-cost question

Toyota states a three-year/100,000-km warranty for the new Glanza, extendable to five years/220,000 km. It also advertises 60-minute Express Maintenance, service appointment booking and 24×7 roadside assistance. The launch announcement does not provide an itemized schedule of paid service prices by interval, consumables or city.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

NEXA provides an online service-cost calculator and booking facility for the Baleno. That tool is the appropriate starting point for a quote, but the amount depends on the selected model, interval, location, taxes, consumables and any work approved during inspection. A calculator result should be saved with its date and assumptions.

Toyota’s warranty information refers to scheduled intervals and free labour for certain services, while earlier Glanza documentation says periodic-maintenance information can be subject to conditions and selected dealerships. Neither point creates a current, like-for-like total against the Baleno. The official pages cited here do not list matching parts and labour totals for both 2026 cars.

Consequently, it is not accurate to say that the Glanza or Baleno is cheaper to maintain. Obtain itemized estimates from the same city for the same ownership period. Request, at minimum, labour, engine oil, oil filter, air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs, brake inspection or replacement, coolant, CNG-related checks where applicable, taxes and optional recommended work. Ask which items are mandatory for warranty validity and which are advisory.

To compare five-year ownership, put each scheduled visit on a timeline and total only the same categories for both cars. Keep tyres, accident repairs, accessories, finance interest and insurance renewal in separate lines because they are usage- or policy-dependent. This avoids turning a dealer’s promotional “free service” wording into a misleading zero-cost ownership claim.

Do not mix the new Glanza with old specification pages

Search results still surface a Toyota showroom page and a May 2025 brochure for the previous Glanza configuration. Those documents describe a 1,197 cc four-cylinder engine, 66 kW, 113 Nm and certified petrol figures of 22.35 km/l with MT and 22.94 km/l with AMT. They are not specifications for the generation announced on 14 October 2026.

When a dealer, listing or comparison video quotes those older numbers, check the model year, engine code and publication date. For this article’s comparison, the Z12E three-cylinder figures and Toyota’s 2026 equipment announcement take precedence. A used or outgoing Glanza may still have the earlier specification, but it must be priced and evaluated as a different product.

Which car fits which buyer?

Choose the new Glanza for a feature-led shortlist

  • You want to evaluate Toyota’s newly announced equipment package, including the named 360-degree camera, HUD, ventilated seats, wireless charging and Level 2 ADAS.
  • The announced warranty extension, roadside assistance and Express Maintenance matter to your ownership plan.
  • You can wait for November delivery and are comfortable deciding after Toyota publishes exact grade prices and allocations.
  • You are comparing petrol or CNG on the basis of a written quote rather than assuming the ₹6,99,000 starting figure applies to your preferred transmission and equipment.

Choose the Baleno for a currently documented variant choice

  • You need to select among a published range of petrol MT, petrol AMT, CNG MT and CNG AGS versions now.
  • A local NEXA outlet can provide an immediate, city-specific ex-showroom and on-road quotation for the grade you want.
  • You prefer to compare a known grade’s equipment and use NEXA’s service-cost calculator before purchase.
  • You want six airbags as a stated standard feature while still checking which convenience and driver-assistance features are limited to higher grades.

Use a neutral decision when the two quotes are close

Build a worksheet with four columns: exact grade, on-road price, included equipment and estimated scheduled-service amount. Add the fuel type and transmission beside every number. Select the car that satisfies your non-negotiable safety and convenience requirements at the lower fully documented ownership cost; do not award a point merely because one brochure has a lower starting price.

How to obtain an apples-to-apples quote

  1. Fix the specification first. Choose petrol or CNG, manual or AMT/AGS, and a target equipment level. Do not compare a base manual with a top automatic.
  2. Use the same city. Request quotations from Toyota and NEXA outlets in the registration location. Registration and insurance can change the on-road result.
  3. Demand an itemized sheet. It should separate ex-showroom, registration, insurance, handling or logistics charges, accessories, taxes, discounts and finance-related fees.
  4. Verify the build. Check the model year, VIN once allocated, engine and transmission, airbags, ADAS hardware, camera, seat ventilation and CNG equipment against the current brochure or variant matrix.
  5. Record delivery timing. Toyota’s announcement points to the first week of November for new Glanza deliveries; confirm the actual dealer allocation and promised date in writing.
  6. Price scheduled maintenance. Ask both outlets for service intervals and itemized parts and labour for the same mileage horizon. Keep optional treatments separate from required maintenance.
  7. Calculate your fuel case. Use your annual kilometres and local fuel prices; keep petrol km/l and CNG km/kg in separate calculations.
  8. Test the features you will use. Drive in traffic, try the seating position, inspect rear visibility, operate the infotainment and camera, and observe ADAS warnings without treating them as a substitute for attention.

Common comparison mistakes

  • Using a stale Glanza page: older four-cylinder specifications and lower certified figures belong to the outgoing configuration, not the 2026 announcement.
  • Calling ex-showroom the on-road price: city taxes, registration and insurance are excluded from the figures shown above.
  • Comparing different units: km/l and km/kg cannot be placed in one mileage ranking.
  • Assuming every feature is standard: Toyota’s launch list and NEXA’s highlights do not prove that every grade includes every item.
  • Declaring a service winner without invoices: no aligned, itemized scheduled-service total for both current cars is established here.
  • Buying on a headline starting price: the new Glanza’s full grade-wise prices and the exact price of its automatic and CNG versions still need confirmation.
  • Ignoring booking conditions: confirm refundability, price protection, delivery priority and the treatment of the ₹11,000 amount before booking.
  • Comparing different warranty horizons: write down both the time limit and kilometre limit, then check whether an extension has separate eligibility or maintenance conditions.

Bottom line for an October 2026 buyer

The Baleno is easier to price today because NEXA publishes a broad variant list and city-specific examples. The new Glanza is the more important launch to watch if its announced safety and convenience equipment, warranty and service access match your preferred grade. Petrol efficiency is effectively tied on the published figures, while CNG requires a separate cost calculation. Until Toyota releases the complete price and equipment matrix, the responsible choice is to shortlist both, obtain same-city on-road quotes and refuse any service-cost claim that is not backed by comparable itemized schedules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the new Toyota Glanza cheaper than the Maruti Suzuki Baleno?

Toyota has announced a ₹6,99,000 ex-showroom starting price for the new Glanza. NEXA’s Ghaziabad page shows ₹9,49,900 for the Baleno Alpha (O) MT and ₹9,99,000 for Alpha (O) AGS, but these are different grades and one-city figures. A fair answer requires matching fuel, transmission, equipment and same-city on-road quotes.

Which has better mileage, Glanza or Baleno?

The published petrol figures are tied: 23.80 km/l for manual versions and 24.77 km/l for AMT versions. These are manufacturer-certified test-cycle numbers, not guaranteed real-world results. Baleno’s displayed CNG Zeta + AGS figure is 34.47 km/kg, which uses a different unit and cannot be ranked directly against petrol km/l.

Does the 2026 Glanza have six airbags and ADAS?

Toyota’s 14 October 2026 announcement names six airbags and Level 2 ADAS. Confirm the exact grade and production specification with the dealer because the announcement does not publish a complete feature-by-variant matrix.

Does every Baleno variant get the same safety and convenience equipment?

The Baleno brochure states that six airbags are standard, and describes Suzuki-TECT, ESP and child-seat anchorages. NEXA highlights Level 2 ADAS and ventilated seats on selected petrol models, so convenience and driver-assistance features must be checked grade by grade.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What is the Glanza warranty?

Toyota states a three-year or 100,000-km warranty, extendable to five years or 220,000 km. Ask for the written warranty conditions, kilometre limit, extension eligibility and any scheduled-maintenance requirements.

Which car has lower service costs?

There is no aligned official itemized schedule showing total paid-service costs for both current 2026 cars. NEXA offers a Baleno service-cost calculator, while Toyota provides service access, Express Maintenance and warranty information. Request same-city estimates listing labour, parts, consumables, taxes and optional work before declaring a winner.

When will the new Glanza be delivered?

Toyota opened bookings on 15 October 2026 and expects deliveries from the first week of November. Confirm the dealer’s allocation, promised date, cancellation terms and price treatment in writing.

The Bottom Line

On published petrol figures, Glanza and Baleno are tied. Baleno is easier to buy and price today, while the new Glanza’s final value depends on its unpublished grade prices and feature allocation. Compare same-city, same-powertrain on-road quotes and itemized service schedules before booking.
