The Torsus Praetorian TG3 is a heavy-duty 4×4 bus built on a MAN TGM platform. In its June 2024 announcement, Torsus described more than 50 technical upgrades, led by new front and rear air suspension and revised chassis-to-body mounts. The update also added changes to braking, driver assistance, heating and ventilation, and service access. These are reported specifications and design intentions, not independent test results.
What the Praetorian TG3 is
The Praetorian is a specialist passenger bus for difficult routes and demanding work, rather than a conventional family MPV. New Atlas describes it as built by Torsus around a MAN TGM truck chassis, with a composite body over a skeletal frame. The roles cited include transporting remote-site personnel, search and rescue, school transport, and overland conversion.
Torsus founder and CEO Vakhtang Dzhukashvili told New Atlas: “To continue to lead the market, we know we can’t just sit on our laurels – we’ve got to push hard and innovate, and we’ve got to do it all the time.”
What changed in the TG3 update
Suspension and body mounting
The central chassis update is new air suspension at both the front and rear, paired with revised components where the chassis mounts to the superstructure. The stated aims are to improve ride comfort, wheel articulation, and vibration absorption on rough ground. Those are the manufacturer’s intended benefits; the report does not provide comparative test measurements.

Braking and driver aids
The reported equipment includes 19.5-inch disc brakes, lane detection, and light and rain sensors. The article does not specify which trim or market receives each item as standard, or whether equipment varies by configuration.
Cabin, climate control, and servicing
Torsus overhauled the HVAC system. Its heating circuit connects to engine cooling so engine heat can be used in the cabin, and new vents are intended to distribute air in hot weather. The update also includes a redesigned cockpit, new windows and mirrors, and a driver access step operated electrically. A higher-opening hood is intended to make service access easier.

Recovery equipment
The listed front winch is rated at 12 tonnes and carries 30 metres of cable. The report does not give recovery conditions or clarify how that rating should be interpreted for a particular recovery setup.
Reported powertrain and off-road equipment
New Atlas reports a 6.9-liter six-cylinder MAN diesel producing 848 lb-ft of torque (1,150 Nm), paired with a 12-speed Tipmatic ZF AStronic transmission. The heavy-duty 4×4 system has front, rear, and inter-axle differential locks. Named drive modes are Efficiency, Emergency, Off Road, and Low-Range.

New Atlas gives a stated wading depth of 2.2 feet in an image caption. Treat that as a reported figure, not a guarantee for every vehicle or water-crossing condition.
Passenger capacity and named versions
The reported maximum cabin arrangement is 34 passengers plus the driver (34+1). Torsus also names Shell, Transporter, and Minesite variants and reports 14 seating configurations. The June 2024 report does not explain how the three variants differ in equipment or layout, so their names alone are not enough to rank them or infer a particular mission fit.

For a fleet decision, ask Torsus or a dealer which passenger and cargo layouts are available for the intended role, what equipment is included, and which regional homologation applies. Confirm the exact configuration rather than assuming all 14 seating layouts are offered with every variant.

New Atlas reported that production had begun and listed Germany, Spain, and Ukraine among the initial markets. It gave a starting price of €225,831, approximately US$243,000 at the time of publication. Those are June 2024 claims, not verified current pricing or availability. Current sales territories, order status, delivery times, and pricing are not established here; prospective buyers should confirm them directly with Torsus or an authorized dealer.
