These are the figures and models reported by the 2023 HotCars ranking. It does not clearly define a geographic market or claim to be a complete worldwide inventory. Its 2023 scope includes models sold or introduced that year, so the list is not necessarily a comparison of machines from one model year.
How comparable are the reported weights?
Not perfectly. “Wet weight” is not a universal measurement standard: manufacturers may include different amounts of fuel or other fluids, and equipment can also affect the result. The ranking itself warns that its figures may differ from what a bike weighs on a scale. Its KTM 890 Duke figure is especially qualified: the article estimates 183 kg because, it says, KTM did not publish an exact wet-weight figure.

Yamaha offers a useful example of why the basis matters. For the 2023 MT-07, Yamaha specifies 406 lb wet and defines that as including standard equipment, all fluids, and a full tank of fuel. This example illustrates a measurement convention; it does not verify the figures for the ten motorcycles in the ranking.
Why this is not a current-production ranking
A later list answers a different question. Visordown’s ranking, updated 6 July 2026, covers road-legal motorcycles over 125 cc then in production and includes models introduced after 2023. It also notes that manufacturers use different fuel assumptions for “wet” weight. That current-production list should not be used to reorder or validate the 2023 entries.

What to check when comparing lightweight motorcycles
A low published figure is a useful starting point, but it is most meaningful when the bikes are measured on the same basis. Before comparing models, check:
- Weight convention: whether the number is wet, curb, dry, or an estimate.
- Fuel and fluids: whether the tank is full, partly filled, or excluded, and which fluids are counted.
- Market and model year: whether the motorcycle was available in your country and which version the figure describes.
- Intended use: a dual-sport such as the CRF300 Rally and a road-focused naked bike such as the CB300R serve different riding needs; weight alone does not make them interchangeable.
The available figures do not establish a consistent manufacturer-verified comparison across all ten models, so treat the ranking as a reported snapshot rather than a definitive specification table.
