The ten selections below trace that model’s design and variant milestones through the 2025 lineup. They are an editorial shortlist—not an official ranking of the best-selling, most popular, or objectively best Street Glides.
How this list is organized
Each entry marks a notable model year, variant, or platform change, selected for historical importance, a distinct model identity, or a documented shift in technology. It is not a list of ten successive generations: the 2009 Touring-frame redesign, for example, affected the broader Touring family rather than creating a unique Street Glide trim. Harley-Davidson’s history and catalog establish dates and identities; they do not establish a popularity ranking.
The 10 Street Glide milestones
1. 2006 FLHX Street Glide: the original formula
Harley-Davidson introduced the FLHX Street Glide for 2006. It combined the traditional Touring chassis with a chopped windshield and a slammed appearance, giving the touring platform what the manufacturer describes as a cruiser identity. That blend established the look that distinguishes the Street Glide within Harley-Davidson’s Touring family. Harley-Davidson’s touring history documents the debut and its styling.
2. 2009 Touring-frame redesign: a platform milestone
Harley-Davidson redesigned its Touring frame for 2009, citing changes intended to improve handling and seating position. This belongs in the Street Glide timeline as a platform-era change, not as a separate FLHX trim or a Street Glide-only redesign. The frame update is useful context when comparing earlier and later Touring-family motorcycles, but it does not by itself establish a particular Street Glide’s equipment. The manufacturer’s history describes the broader change.

3. 2010–2012 CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE): an early premium run
Harley-Davidson’s 2019 catalog records the CVO Street Glide under model code FLHXSE for 2010–2012. CVO identifies a distinct premium branch rather than a standard FLHX with a guaranteed, year-to-year package of identical features. The catalog supports the model identity and recorded years; it is not a complete specification comparison. The 2019 catalog lists its model-code chronology.
4. 2014 Street Glide Special (FLHXS): a distinct variant
Harley-Davidson’s catalog begins listing the Street Glide Special as FLHXS in 2014, the same year the company describes Project Rushmore as a comprehensive Touring redesign. That wider program included weight reduction, Boom! Box infotainment, one-touch saddlebag operation, revised aerodynamics, and Twin-Cooled engines on specific models; those changes should not be assumed to apply identically to every Touring model. A manufacturer marketplace page for a 2014 example provides model-specific background, not an independent long-term evaluation. The catalog supports the Special’s model-year identity.

5. 2015–2019 CVO Street Glide: the premium model returns
The catalog records the CVO Street Glide again from 2015 onward after its 2010–2012 run. That makes this a useful separate premium-era milestone, but the year span does not mean that every motorcycle from 2015 through 2019 had the same engine, equipment, or finish. Check a motorcycle’s exact model year and specification rather than relying on the CVO name alone. Harley-Davidson’s catalog documents the recorded model years.
6. 2022 Street Glide ST (FLHXST): the ST branch
Harley-Davidson’s 2022 owner manual identifies the Street Glide ST as FLHXST, distinct from the Street Glide Special (FLHXS) and CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE). The model code makes the ST a clearly identifiable branch in the family. The manual establishes the model’s identity, not a full feature or performance comparison, so it is safer to use ST as a variant label than to infer unlisted specifications. The 2022 owner manual records the touring model codes.

7. 2022 CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE): a separate premium branch
The same 2022 manual identifies a CVO Street Glide alongside the ST and Special. This is a separate model, not simply another name for the standard FLHX. The distinction matters when shopping used: model code and year are more reliable starting points than the broad Street Glide name, while the manual alone does not establish every equipment difference. Harley-Davidson’s 2022 manual supports the model-code distinction.
8. 2024 Street Glide: a major technology redesign
Harley-Davidson calls its 2024 Street Glide release a new era for touring performance, technology, and design. The company highlights an updated Milwaukee-Eight 117, selectable Road, Sport, Rain, and Custom ride modes, and a 12.3-inch TFT touchscreen that replaces the analog instrumentation and most switches. It also specifies a 200-watt amplifier for the fairing-mounted speakers. These are manufacturer-described changes, not independent performance-test findings. Harley-Davidson’s history describes the redesign.

9. 2025 Street Glide: current standard-model specifications
For the U.S. 2025 model, Harley-Davidson lists a Milwaukee-Eight 117 producing 105 hp at 4,600 rpm and 130 ft-lb of torque at 3,250 rpm, with estimated fuel economy of 44 mpg. The manufacturer also lists a 12.3-inch TFT display and describes the Batwing fairing, ride modes, and rear suspension. These are U.S. manufacturer specifications and an estimated fuel-economy figure, not independent test results; other markets may use different specifications. The 2025 U.S. Street Glide page gives the model-year details.
10. 2025 CVO Street Glide: the premium counterpart
For the U.S. 2025 CVO Street Glide, Harley-Davidson lists a Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 rated at 115 hp and 139 ft-lb of torque. The manufacturer also highlights premium paint and model-specific components. Compared with the 2025 standard Street Glide’s listed 117 engine and output, the CVO has a distinct powertrain specification as well as its premium positioning; this comparison applies to those U.S. model-year specifications, not every CVO or standard Street Glide. The 2025 U.S. CVO page describes the model and its components.

How the variants differ
Street Glide is the model family; Special, ST, and CVO are distinct variants identified by their model codes. The available records support this basic identification, but they do not provide a complete, like-for-like equipment table across every year.
| Model identity | Code | What the records establish |
|---|---|---|
| Street Glide | FLHX | Catalog lists it from 2006 onward; equipment varies by year. |
| Street Glide Special | FLHXS | Catalog lists it from 2014 onward; not interchangeable with FLHX. |
| CVO Street Glide | FLHXSE | Catalog records 2010–2012 and 2015 onward; specific equipment varies by year. |
| Street Glide ST | FLHXST | Identified as a distinct touring model in the 2022 owner manual. |
The catalog ranges are historical records, not guarantees of current availability or identical specifications in every market. Harley-Davidson’s 2026 European/UK brochure confirms standard Street Glide and CVO Street Glide models in that market and introduces a 2026 CVO Street Glide ST; regional availability and specifications may differ from U.S. listings. The 2026 UK brochure is specific to that region.
Quick Recap
What to check when comparing or buying one
- Confirm the model year and code. FLHX, FLHXS, FLHXSE, and FLHXST identify different models or variants; a shared Street Glide name does not guarantee matching equipment.
- Use year-specific specifications. Current product pages describe particular model years and markets, while historical catalogs are useful for chronology and identity.
- Verify parts fitment. Check accessories against the exact year and variant before buying; do not infer compatibility from the Street Glide name alone.
