There is no evidence-backed, apples-to-apples top ten for sport bikes under 800cc: current specifications, prices and test results are not available on a common basis for ten models. The nine picks below form a useful 2026-market shortlist, ranked editorially for a mix of road usability, performance focus, equipment and price—not by a shared test. They range from a 400cc inline-four to a 776cc twin, and the list mixes US and UK market information where noted.
How this shortlist is ranked
“Under 800cc” describes engine displacement, not how forgiving a bike is to ride. A smaller engine can still have an aggressive riding position or demand high revs; a larger middleweight may deliver its power more flexibly. Consider your fit, experience, intended roads and comfort with the bike’s controls rather than using displacement as a beginner-suitability label.

The order below is an editorial balance of road usability, performance intent, equipment and available price context. It is not a measured shootout: there is no common test protocol across these motorcycles, and some candidates have much more complete published specifications than others. Model-year and market labels matter; listed prices are not directly comparable out-the-door totals.
The top sport bikes under 800cc
1. Aprilia RS 660 — best balanced sport-focused pick
Aprilia’s current RS 660 pairs a 660cc Euro 5+ twin with published output of 105 hp at 10,400 rpm and 70 Nm at 8,400 rpm. The manufacturer lists APRC electronics and a 5-inch TFT, giving this pick a documented blend of performance and rider aids. It makes sense for riders seeking a fully faired, focused middleweight without stepping up to a 750–800cc engine.

Aprilia lists a US recommended retail price of $11,849 for the RS 660 and $14,149 for the Factory. The page also labels recommended price as excluding VAT, so those figures should not be treated as a complete local purchase quote; confirm taxes, fees and availability with a dealer. The page’s top-speed statement applies to the Factory version, not automatically to the standard RS 660. Aprilia RS 660 specifications and pricing.
2. Triumph Daytona 660 (2026) — best three-cylinder middleweight
The 2026 Daytona 660 has a 660cc inline-three. Triumph’s published figures are 95 PS at 11,250 rpm and 69 Nm at 8,250 rpm; listed equipment includes three riding modes. Its 810 mm seat height and 201 kg wet weight are useful fit and mass reference points, though comparisons with other bikes need matching measurement conventions.
Triumph gives UK on-road pricing from £8,995 and said the model would reach dealers from April 2026. That is UK pricing and availability context, not a US price. Its three-cylinder layout makes it a distinct alternative to the similarly named twin-cylinder RS 660, rather than a like-for-like version of it. Triumph Daytona 660 specifications and UK pricing.
3. Suzuki GSX-8R (2026) — best near the displacement ceiling
Suzuki’s 2026 GSX-8R uses a 776cc DOHC parallel twin with a 270-degree firing order. The US listing confirms a full fairing, bidirectional quick shift and traction-control modes. It is the closest of these verified candidates to the 800cc limit, making it worth considering for riders who want a larger middleweight twin rather than a smaller, high-revving supersport-style machine.

US base MSRP is $9,699, with a $700 destination charge on Suzuki’s page; taxes and other dealer charges are not included in that comparison figure. Suzuki GSX-8R 2026 US listing.
4. Yamaha YZF-R7 (2026) — best clearly priced US sport option
Yamaha lists the 2026 YZF-R7 in its US supersport lineup at a $9,399 MSRP. That is a useful current model-year price anchor among the fully faired choices here, although an MSRP is not an out-the-door quote. The available source confirms the model and price but does not provide a comparable complete specification set for this shortlist, so avoid inferring equipment or performance rankings from the price alone. 5. Honda CBR650R E-Clutch (2026) — best inline-four with clutch assistance
Honda’s 2026 CBR650R E-Clutch is powered by a 649cc liquid-cooled inline-four and includes Honda’s E-Clutch system. For riders specifically drawn to a four-cylinder sportbike, that engine configuration is the defining point of difference in this group; the available listing does not establish a head-to-head performance result against the other candidates.
Honda lists a US base MSRP of $9,199 plus $600 destination. Treat both as listed charges before applicable taxes and any additional dealer costs. Honda CBR650R 2026 US listing.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute6. Kawasaki Ninja 650 (2026) — best road-oriented choice
The 2026 Ninja 650 has a 649cc engine, traction control and TFT instrumentation, according to Kawasaki. A comparative review describes its riding position as less radical than a supersport’s and considers it usable on roads and in town. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not a measured fit guarantee: sit on the bike and assess reach, knee bend and comfort yourself.
Kawasaki’s US base prices are $7,599 for the non-ABS model and $8,199 for the ABS model. The difference is a useful equipment choice for shoppers, but neither price should be mistaken for a final dealer total. The Ninja 650 is a faired sport motorcycle; the available comparison raises the question of whether it is a supersport or sport-tourer, but those labels are not interchangeable and do not by themselves establish a bike’s suitability for your use. 7. Honda CBR500R (2026) — best lower-priced entry in this pool
Honda lists the CBR500R as a sport model with a US base MSRP of $6,399 plus $600 destination. That makes it the lowest-priced candidate in this shortlist on the stated base-price figures. The retrieved manufacturer listing does not provide the complete specification set needed for a detailed performance comparison, so price alone should not be read as proof that it is easier to ride or better value for a particular rider. Honda CBR500R 2026 US listing.
8. Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636 — best supersport-focused pick
The Ninja ZX-6R is a more focused choice than the road-oriented middleweights above. Kawasaki’s 2026 model page reports 52.1 lb-ft at 10,800 rpm, while the FIM homologation list identifies the ZX-6R 636. Homologation establishes competition status, not street performance, reliability, consumer ranking or local retail availability. The sources reviewed do not establish a matching 2026 US price, so a 2027 price should not be applied to this model year. Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R specifications and FIM homologated motorcycles list.

Kawasaki UK identifies the 2026 Ninja ZX-4RR as a 400cc inline-four. That makes it the smallest-displacement entry here and an unusual option for riders who want a four-cylinder layout without moving into a 600-plus-cc engine class. How to choose among them
For ordinary road riding
Start with the Ninja 650 if a less radical position is a priority, while treating that description as a reviewer’s impression rather than a guarantee for every rider. The CBR500R is the least expensive listed US entry on base MSRP, but confirm its fit and equipment in person rather than using price as a proxy for ease.
For a sportier middleweight
Compare the RS 660, Daytona 660, GSX-8R, YZF-R7 and CBR650R around the kind of engine character and equipment you want. The documented layouts differ: the RS is a twin, the Daytona a three-cylinder, the GSX-8R a 776cc twin, and the CBR650R an inline-four. Published detail is uneven, so no fair ranking of acceleration, handling or braking performance can be drawn from these figures alone.
For a more focused supersport
Consider the ZX-6R if you are deliberately seeking a high-rpm, more committed sportbike character, and compare the ZX-4RR if a smaller inline-four is the appeal. Competition homologation is not a consumer recommendation; verify current road-market trim, local availability and fit for either model.
Before paying a deposit
- Confirm the exact model year and market version shown on the dealer quote.
- Ask whether the quoted figure includes destination or freight, taxes, registration and dealer fees.
- Check the seat, reach to the bars, footpeg position and low-speed balance on the actual bike.
- Verify the features you care about—such as ABS, traction control, rider modes, quick shifting or clutch assistance—on the specific trim being sold.
- Compare weight only when the figures use the same wet, curb or dry convention; the available published figures here are not consistent across models.
Why there are nine picks, not a defensible top ten
The verified material supports nine candidates with identifiable current or model-year-specific product information, but it does not establish a tenth model with equivalent current retail, displacement and specification checks. Adding a name merely to fill the count would make the list look more certain than the evidence allows. Nor do six-bike comparison notes, isolated manufacturer specifications or an FIM homologation entry establish a universal winner.
