Most of those figures are media estimates, not manufacturer price lists, and the title’s “only billionaires” wording is a way of signaling a price tier rather than a claim about who owns these cars. A car’s price does not tell you its owner’s net worth.
This guide sets out the evidence standard first, then the list, then where the published rankings disagree with one another.
How to read these prices
Three kinds of figure appear in car-price rankings, and they should not be compared directly:
- Media estimates. Most one-off and coachbuilt cars are priced this way. Final client invoices are private, and the manufacturer often does not publish a figure, so the number is the publisher’s best reconstruction.
- Manufacturer-stated prices. Bugatti has stated a unit price for the Centodieci, which secondary coverage reports as €8 million per car. Even here, the figure reaches most readers through a third-party report rather than a direct quotation from the manufacturer.
- Completed auction results. These are the only figures with a public transaction behind them. The Gordon Murray S1 LM’s reported $20.63 million result, dated November 21, 2025, is the clearest modern example in the sources.
Currency, tax treatment and whether a car is historic or new all change what a number means. A euro figure and a dollar figure for the same car are not the same claim, and a 1955 car sold at auction is not a modern-car price.

The top 10 by reported price (October 2026)
The table follows the order of the October 3, 2026 ranking. Where the sources do not state a value, the cell says so.
| Rank | Car | Reported price | Evidence type | Vehicle type | Units or commission count |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail | About $30 million | Media estimate; manufacturer has not confirmed final price | Coachbuilt commission | Not stated |
| 2 | Rolls-Royce Boat Tail | About $28 million | Media estimate; manufacturer has not confirmed final price | Coachbuilt commission | Not stated |
| 3 | Gordon Murray S1 LM | $20.63 million | Reported auction result (November 21, 2025) | Track-focused hypercar | Not stated |
| 4 | Bugatti Brouillard | About $20 million | Media estimate | Not stated | Not stated |
| 5 | F.K.P. Hommage | About $20 million | Media estimate | Not stated | Not stated |
| 6 | Bugatti La Voiture Noire | $13.4 million | Media estimate | Not stated | Not stated |
| 7 | Rolls-Royce Sweptail | $12.8 million | Media estimate | Not stated | Not stated |
| 8 | Bugatti Chiron Profilée | $10.8 million | Media estimate | Not stated | Not stated |
| 9 | Rolls-Royce Project Nightingale | $9.5 million | Media estimate | Not stated | Not stated |
| 10 | Bugatti Centodieci | About $9 million (reported as €8 million per unit) | Manufacturer figure as reported by secondary coverage | Limited-run hypercar | 10 units, all reported sold before public unveiling |
The table ranks by price, but price is not the only useful comparison. A coachbuilt roadster and a track-focused hypercar are different products bought for different reasons, so the rows should be read as a price tier rather than a verdict on which car is better.
Rolls-Royce commissions at the top
La Rose Noire Droptail and Boat Tail
The two highest estimates in the October ranking are both Rolls-Royce bespoke commissions. The Droptail is estimated at about $30 million and the Boat Tail at about $28 million. Neither figure has been confirmed by the manufacturer, and the sources do not publish production counts for either. Treat these as the market’s best estimate of the price tier rather than a list price a buyer could order from.

Sweptail, Project Nightingale

Bugatti one-offs and limited cars
Brouillard, La Voiture Noire and Chiron Profilée
The Brouillard is estimated at about $20 million, La Voiture Noire at $13.4 million and Chiron Profilée at $10.8 million in the October ranking. All three are media estimates, and the sources do not publish their production counts or confirmed transaction prices.
Centodieci
The Centodieci is the only Bugatti in the top ten with a manufacturer-level figure attached. Secondary coverage reports that Bugatti stated a unit price of €8 million and that all ten examples were sold before the car was publicly unveiled. The October ranking converts this to about $9 million. Because the figure comes through a third-party report, quote it as “reported” unless you have checked Bugatti’s original announcement.

Auction-verified record: Gordon Murray S1 LM
The S1 LM is the only car in the October top ten with a reported completed sale. A 2025 CarCody review describes a $20.63 million result for the car, dated November 21, 2025, and the October ranking treats the same figure as verifiable. It is the strongest data point on this list, but it is still one reported result and should be presented as such.

A May 2026 ranking orders the top ten differently and uses different estimates. The gap is a useful reminder that a “top 10” depends on the publication date, the methodology and which reported sales or commissions are admitted.
| Car | October 3, 2026 ranking | May 2026 ranking |
|---|---|---|
| Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail | About $30 million | $32 million |
| Rolls-Royce Boat Tail | About $28 million | $28 million |
| Gordon Murray S1 LM | $20.63 million | Not in list |
| Bugatti Brouillard | About $20 million | Not in list |
| F.K.P. Hommage | About $20 million | Not in list |
| Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta | Not in list | $17 million |
| Bugatti La Voiture Noire | $13.4 million | $18.7 million |
| Rolls-Royce Sweptail | $12.8 million | $13 million |
| Bugatti Chiron Profilée | $10.8 million | $10.8 million |
| Rolls-Royce Project Nightingale | $9.5 million | Not in list |
| Bugatti Centodieci | About $9 million | $9 million |
| Mercedes-Maybach Exelero | Not in list | $8 million |
| Pagani Huayra Codalunga | Not in list | $7 million |
| Bugatti Divo | Not in list | $5.8 million |
The two lists agree on the Boat Tail, Chiron Profilée and Centodieci, and disagree on almost everything else. Neither is an audited market dataset.
Historic and unlisted reference points
Two figures often appear next to modern-car rankings but are not part of this list. A 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé sold for €135 million at a 2022 auction, an announcement attributed to Mercedes-Benz Group in a 2025 CarCody review. It is a documented sale, but it is a historic car and does not belong in a list of modern cars.
The Bugatti Tourbillon is also excluded. Bugatti Newsroom quotes Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac, saying the car’s development was “guided at every step by the 115 years of Bugatti history and the words of Ettore Bugatti himself.” Bugatti also says Tourbillon prototypes were in testing ahead of customer deliveries in 2026. The published sources available here do not establish a price for the car or place it in a top-ten ranking, so it is not included.
Quick Recap
How to check a price before you repeat it
- Note the currency. A euro figure and a dollar figure for the same car may both be in circulation, and conversions depend on the date used.
- Identify the evidence type: media estimate, manufacturer-stated price, or completed auction. Only the last is a transaction.
- Check the publication date. A ranking from May 2026 and one from October 2026 may differ on membership and order.
- Check whether the car is new, one-off or historic. A 1950s auction result is not a modern-car price.
- Look for a unit count. Where the count is stated, as with the ten Centodieci examples, the price is easier to contextualise.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
