The company’s Heritage offering starts at a provisional ¥16.5 million including tax for a complete car, or ¥13.2 million including tax for listed work on an owner-supplied AE86. TOM’S publishes a naturally aspirated 1,626 cc engine rated at 195 PS, while the precise scope, availability and final price should be confirmed directly with the company.
What is TOM’S’ AE86 Heritage?
It is TOM’S’ restoration and update of the classic Corolla Levin AE86. Toyota identifies the original Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno AE86 as a 1983–1987 model. TOM’S describes its approach as retaining the car’s original appearance and light, direct character while renewing the body, engine, aerodynamics and interior. It is not a new-production Toyota model. Toyota’s model background and TOM’S’ Heritage page provide the respective background and offering details.
The word “new” in coverage of the announcement refers to this restored and modified classic. It should not be confused with Toyota’s AE86 concept cars: Toyota UK reported a hydrogen-combustion AE86 H2 Concept and a battery-electric AE86 BEV Concept at the January 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon. The published material does not establish import duty, shipping, registration expenses, or whether a buyer in another country can order the car. What changes in the restoration?
Body, structure and aerodynamics
TOM’S says the restoration repairs corrosion and adds spot reinforcement and MIG welding. Its underpanel and aerodynamic work are intended to optimize aerodynamic balance. These are the company’s descriptions of its work and aims, not independent road-test findings.

Engine and fuel
The published Heritage specification is a 1,626 cc naturally aspirated inline-four, rated at 195 PS at 7,980 rpm and maximum torque of 19.5 kg·m at 6,490 rpm. TOM’S specifies premium gasoline. The company says the engine is based on a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter racing engine, retuned for street drivability and built with selected new parts.
Use TOM’S’ technical table for those figures: a secondary report summarized the output differently, at 192 hp and 191 Nm. The units and reported values are not interchangeable without conversion, so the manufacturer’s stated 195 PS and 19.5 kg·m are the clearest figures for the published Heritage specification. Wheels, tires and cabin
TOM’S lists 15-inch IGETA REVIVAL wheels and Bridgestone Potenza RE-11RS tires in 195/50R15 sizing for the Heritage specification. It says the cabin is refreshed using the original seats as a base.

Two related announcements may matter to owners, but neither is the same as ordering a complete Heritage car.

- Toyota GR Heritage engine components: Toyota Gazoo Racing announced AE86 4A-GE cylinder-head and cylinder-block sub-assemblies for its GR Heritage Parts program. Its 10 September 2025 release gave an intended May 2026 sales launch, subject to order volume and development timing. That announcement does not confirm present availability. Toyota’s announcement
What buyers should confirm
Before choosing a complete car or submitting an existing one, get written confirmation from TOM’S on the current price and scope. For an owner-supplied car, clarify what condition the AE86 must be in and which repairs or parts are outside the listed work. For either route, confirm ordering status, delivery timing, export eligibility, and any taxes, transport, import or registration costs that apply in the destination country. Those details are not established by the published prices.
