iKamper’s Rivian-specific rooftop tent is the Skycamp 4.0 DLX, available in Duo and Trio sizes. Rivian calls its weather resistance “4 seasons,” but the product listing does not document a wind-speed test or establish that the tent is stormproof. For an R1T, the key practical question is whether your cargo crossbars or bed-rack setup can support the tent with suitable clearance and load ratings.
What is the new Rivian rooftop tent?
The Rivian Gear Shop listing describes the iKamper Skycamp 4.0 DLX as a hard-shell tent for the R1T, R1S and R2. It requires cargo crossbars; the product listing says mounting brackets and an HC Staircase are included. Rivian lists a 60-second deployment time, which is a product-page claim rather than an independently measured result, and a two-year iKamper warranty.
The tent also has integrated lighting and USB-A, USB-C and 12-volt outlets. Those electronics require an external 12-volt power source. An optional comfort mattress is available, according to the product listing.

Will it fit an R1T?
Compatibility depends on the complete mounting arrangement, not just the vehicle name. iKamper’s R1T compatibility guide assumes a factory hard roof and open bed, and says rack type, rack height, bed length and load ratings all affect the setup.
Choose the rack position and tent footprint
iKamper lists the Skycamp 4.0 Duo among tents that pair well with mid-height bed racks. A full-height or cab-height bed rack can support longer tents that extend over the cab. The guide cautions against excessive rear overhang. These are fitment considerations, not an endorsement of the rack brands named in the guide.

Verify load ratings for the whole setup
Before installation, confirm the dynamic load rating of the rack meets or exceeds the tent’s specification, and check the current R1T owner’s guide and rack-maker documentation for the limits that apply to your particular configuration. iKamper’s general FAQ lists load figures for earlier tent families, but does not identify those figures as applying to the Skycamp 4.0 DLX. They should not be used as the DLX’s load rating.

That claim is not established by the official DLX product information reviewed. Rivian labels the tent’s weather resistance “4 seasons,” but its listing does not state a tested wind speed, rainfall volume, snow load or storm rating. “Four-season” is the manufacturer’s product label; it is not a quantified guarantee of protection in severe weather.

A separate iKamper help page for the older Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini says that model was tested to 35 mph winds and heavy rain, as well as for UV exposure and heat retention. Those claims apply to the Mini, not the newer Skycamp 4.0 DLX, and should not be used to infer the DLX’s storm performance.

What to check before buying
- Confirm that your R1T has the required cargo crossbars or a suitable bed-rack configuration.
- Check rack height, tent footprint, bed length and cab or tailgate overhang against your intended mounting position.
- Verify the applicable dynamic load ratings with the tent documentation, rack maker and R1T owner’s guide; do not substitute generic figures for earlier iKamper models.
- Plan for an external 12-volt source if you want to use the tent’s integrated lighting and outlets.
- Read weather claims as model-specific: the DLX’s listing says “4 seasons,” but the Mini’s wind and rain test statement does not document DLX performance.
