Porsche says production of the gasoline-powered 718 Boxster and Cayman ended in October 2025. That does not mean every new 718 disappeared from U.S. dealers at the same time: Porsche Cars North America reported deliveries in the months that followed. Its public reports do not establish when U.S. factory orders stopped or how many unsold new cars remain, so shoppers should ask Porsche Centers about current stock and availability.
Can you still order a new Porsche 718 in the U.S.?
The available official reports do not identify a precise date when Porsche stopped accepting U.S. factory orders for the 718. Nor do they confirm that every dealer-held new car has sold. Porsche’s U.S. model overview continues to describe the Cayman and Boxster, but it is a model and configurator page—not proof that a factory order can be placed. Porsche 718 Models and Configurator
For a specific car, contact Porsche Centers and ask whether they have an unsold 718 in stock or any remaining allocation. A car already built and held by a dealer is different from a new factory order: its model year, configuration and equipment are already determined.
When did Porsche stop making the 718?
Porsche AG’s September 7, 2026 first-half report says the 718 model line ended production in October 2025. The 718 name covers two gasoline-powered model families: the Cayman coupe and the Boxster cabriolet, as identified in Porsche USA’s model overview. Porsche AG’s first-half 2026 report

Production ending is not the same as deliveries ending. Porsche AG reported 2,789 worldwide Boxster and Cayman deliveries in January–June 2026, down 73 percent from the same period a year earlier. Those are customer handovers, not production totals, remaining inventory or factory-order counts.
U.S. deliveries continued after production ended
Porsche Cars North America reported 244 U.S. 718 deliveries year-to-date through June 2026, including 38 in April–June. Its release described the cars as delivered “as production concluded.” That confirms U.S. customer deliveries continued after the production cutoff; it does not establish whether a particular trim or dealer still has a car available. What can buyers look for now?
| Buying path | What it means | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Dealer-held unsold new car | A completed car that may still be available from a Porsche Center; current remaining stock is not stated in the cited reports. | Ask dealers directly about availability, model year, derivative, equipment, asking price and delivery timing. |
| Used 718 | A previously owned Cayman or Boxster; listings and prices vary. | Compare model year, derivative, mileage, condition, equipment, service history and asking price. |
| Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) | A car offered through Porsche’s CPO program. The company reported 24,695 U.S. CPO sales in the first half of 2026, across the brand—not 718-only inventory. | Check whether a specific 718 is listed, and review its condition, warranty terms and price with the seller. |
The CPO sales figure indicates the scale of Porsche’s broader certified-pre-owned business, not the number of 718s available. Porsche’s public releases cited here do not provide current 718 listing counts, dealer stock totals or asking prices.

What Porsche has said about a future 718-segment car
In its September 19, 2025 product-strategy announcement, Porsche said its future lineup would include “the future two-door sports car in the 718 segment” as part of an attractive battery-electric vehicle offering. The statement signals Porsche’s stated direction at that time; it does not give a launch date or final specifications. Porsche AG’s September 2025 strategy announcement
CEO Oliver Blume framed the wider strategy update this way: “We are currently experiencing massive changes within the automotive environment. That’s why we’re realigning Porsche across the board.” Porsche presented that remark in the context of a company-wide product-strategy realignment, not as a specific explanation for the 718 production cutoff.
