A Tesla dealership in Tigard, Oregon, was hit by gunfire early March 6, 2025. Police said at least seven shots were fired, damaging three cars and the building; no one was injured. Tigard police said the FBI and ATF were assisting, but officials had not confirmed a motive in the initial report.
What happened at the Tigard Tesla dealership?
Surveillance video placed the gunfire at about 1:46 a.m., when the dealership was unoccupied, according to the Associated Press report published March 7, 2025. Tigard police said investigators believed at least seven shots were fired. Three vehicles were damaged, dealership windows were shattered, and a bullet passed through an office wall and into a computer monitor. No injuries were reported.

Tigard is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) southwest of Portland. The incident described in the initial reports took place there—not at a Tesla property in Salem.
Why were the FBI and ATF involved?
Tigard police said they were working with federal partners, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), in what they called a “thorough and broad-scope investigation.” The AP reported that police had no suspect description at the time of its initial report.

Federal-agency participation does not, by itself, establish a motive or indicate that investigators had identified a suspect. The agencies’ role was described as assistance to the Tigard investigation.
Was the shooting politically motivated?
Police had not confirmed a motive in the initial reporting. A Tigard police spokeswoman acknowledged that other Tesla dealerships had been targeted in Oregon and nationally for political reasons, but that context was not evidence establishing why this particular dealership was shot at. The distinction matters: the reported pattern does not identify the shooter or prove a political motive in Tigard.

Was there another shooting at the same dealership?
Yes. The AP reported a second shooting at the Tigard dealership on March 13, 2025. Police said more than a dozen shots were fired around 4:15 a.m., causing extensive damage to vehicles and showroom windows. No injuries were reported, and police said FBI and ATF partners continued to assist. This was a separate incident, one week after the March 6 shooting.
Is the Tigard case connected to the Salem Tesla attack?
The reported Salem case is separate. In a March 20, 2025 announcement, the U.S. Department of Justice described charges against three people for attacks on Tesla property in multiple states. The announcement said one defendant, armed with a suppressed AR-15 rifle, was arrested after throwing approximately eight Molotov cocktails at a Tesla dealership in Salem. The DOJ’s announcement concerns Salem; it does not report an arrest or resolution in the Tigard shootings.

The available case-specific reporting cited here does not establish a later arrest, charging decision, or closure for the Tigard shootings. The Salem charges should not be treated as the outcome of the Tigard investigation.
