The XBUS Camper was presented as a compact electric microcamper for two, with a small kitchen and a pop-up roof. The roughly $31,000 figure came from historical prototype-era pricing, not a confirmed current offer. ElectricBrands’ insolvency filing was reported in February 2024, and current production and ordering status are not established by the available sources.
What the XBUS Camper was designed to be
The XBUS Camper was a proposed camper configuration of ElectricBrands’ modular light electric vehicle. Dealer XBUS Rijnmond described a layout with two seats, sleeping space for two and a compact kitchenette. Its XBUS information page lists a sink, refrigerator and cooktop as part of the camper concept.
The dealer’s FAQ described an expected pop-up roof reaching 2.20 m and a bed of about 210 × 130 cm. It also listed a fresh-water tank and grey-water tank alongside the kitchenette. These were announced or expected features, not evidence that a production camper with those specifications was delivered.
What the historical price figures do—and do not—tell you
The headline’s approximately $31,000 framing reflects prototype-era pricing reported by New Atlas in 2022, not a verified price available to buyers now. New Atlas reported configurator prices of €30,170 for the road chassis and €32,370 for the off-road model, including VAT, while cautioning that the XBUS was still in prototype stages and that specifications and prices could change. What the off-road version was supposed to change
XBUS Rijnmond’s FAQ described the off-road version as having a raised, modified chassis and roughly 4–6 cm more ground clearance than the standard version. That is a published specification, not proof of tested off-road ability. The available material does not establish performance on trails or provide verified comparisons for range, efficiency, charging, or reliability.

Current production, order acceptance, deliveries and dealer support are not established by the available sources. The latest status evidence cited here is electrive’s report of 2 February 2024 that ElectricBrands filed for insolvency under self-administration. That report describes the filing at that time; it does not establish the company’s present legal status or the vehicle’s current production status. The dealer’s FAQ also retains an expected delivery date of Q1 2024, which is now past and cannot confirm that deliveries occurred. Read electrive’s February 2024 report alongside the dealer’s listings rather than treating a listed concept or stale delivery estimate as evidence of a saleable vehicle.
