Reports put it at about 46 feet long, 20 feet wide and 21.6 feet tall—roughly building-sized—and describe stairs and rooms on two levels. It is not a production H1 with a stretched body: the reported build uses a U.S. Army LARC-LX amphibious cargo-vehicle frame and four diesel engines. “World’s largest” is a media description, not a verified record certification.
How big is the Hummer H1 X3?
Interesting Engineering relayed dimensions supplied by the Sharjah Off Road History Museum: 46 feet long, 20 feet wide and 21.6 feet tall. Vaultz News reported the same measurements, converting them to about 14 metres long, 6 metres wide and 6.6 metres high. Maxim’s 2022 coverage gave a similar approximate height of 21 feet. These are reported figures, not an independently published engineering specification sheet.

The museum’s comparison, as reported by Interesting Engineering, described the X3 as three times larger by scale and 27 times by volume than a regular H1. “Three times larger” is not tied in that report to a specific dimension, so it should be read as the museum’s broad comparison rather than a precise measurement. The volume comparison is likewise attributed to the museum, not an independent calculation.
What is inside the two-story Hummer?
“Two-story” refers to an interior with stairs and usable spaces on two levels, not just an unusually tall exterior. The 2022 accounts described a toilet and sink on the lower level and a private guest space—also described as a majlis—above, with panoramic views reported by Vaultz News. Interesting Engineering said the interior was still being developed at the time, so those reports do not establish that every described feature was finished.

How was it built, and what powers it?
Reports described the H1 X3 as built on the frame of a U.S. Army LARC-LX amphibious cargo vehicle, rather than on the ordinary civilian H1 platform. The LARC-LX is the foundation for a radically enlarged custom build, not evidence that the X3 shares the standard H1’s production engineering.
Interesting Engineering and Vaultz News reported four diesel engines, one for each wheel, and described the vehicle as driveable. They gave slightly different top-speed figures: 19 mph and 20 mph, respectively. Maxim noted that detailed specifications had not been made public in its March 2022 coverage. The reports therefore support describing the speed as about 20 mph, not treating either figure as a definitive specification. They do not establish road registration, current roadworthiness or routine public-road use.

Who commissioned it, and where was it headed?
March 2022 coverage identified Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, also known as the Rainbow Sheikh, as the person who commissioned the custom H1 X3. Interesting Engineering reported that it was intended for the Sharjah Off Road History Museum in the United Arab Emirates. That is a historical destination report; the available accounts do not establish whether the vehicle is currently displayed there or whether visitors can see it.

The civilian Hummer H1 was a production vehicle based on the military HMMWV and was produced from 1992 to 2006, according to Car & Classic’s buyer guide. That guide lists the standard H1’s width as 86.5 inches (about 7.2 feet). At a reported 20 feet wide, the X3 is far beyond the ordinary vehicle’s dimensions—but it is a bespoke build on a different reported chassis, not a standard H1 variant. The guide describes production H1 specifications and should not be used as a specification source for the X3.
