Its twin-tube frame rejected the conventional diamond shape, while its early production story was genuinely small—but the 2013 report of one completed bike and seven pre-sold follow-ons does not establish a lifetime production limit.
Who designed the Viks—and why?
Indrek Narusk, a designer and engineer associated with Estonia’s Velonia Bicycles, created the Viks after deciding he wanted a custom bicycle frame that did not look like the familiar diamond. In a 2013 interview with New Atlas, he recalled: “I’ve always liked to have custom and different things you don’t see on every corner.” He cited newer café racer-style motorcycles as part of the inspiration, designed the frame in SolidWorks, and fabricated the prototype in his own shop.
Narusk described the project as a creative experiment rather than a business plan: “This wasn’t intended to be a business project, rather a fun little side kick.” The early bike’s distinctive appearance followed from that goal: make a commuter that stood apart, not a conventional frame with decorative changes.
What is unusual about the original frame?
The original Viks used two tubular frame forms joined at the head tube, seat area, and bottom bracket. With no conventional seat tube, the open silhouette is its defining feature. Yet the design still accommodated a standard 27.2 mm seatpost, secured and adjusted with a regular seat clamp, according to the 2013 New Atlas report.

#1 Best Overall
- Cold Hydration That Lasts on Long Rides: Double‑wall vacuum insulation helps keep water cold for hours during warm conditions and endurance efforts
- Durable Stainless Steel for Daily Riding: Premium construction delivers long‑term reliability across road, gravel, and trail use
- Fast Drinking Without Squeezing: High‑flow cap supports quick lift‑and‑sip hydration so you can drink without breaking rhythm
- Spill Control When It Matters: Integrated lockout helps minimize leaks and splashes during transport and hard riding
- Stable, Rattle‑Free Cage Fit: Optimized bottle shape fits most bike cages securely for confidence on rough terrain
The frame also left a useful place to carry a U-lock. That is a practical consequence of the open geometry, not a promise that every lock will fit every Viks: fit depends on the lock’s dimensions and the particular bicycle.
What did “very limited-edition” mean?
New Atlas reported in March 2013 that Narusk had completed one Viks and pre-sold seven more. For those follow-on bicycles, he planned thinner tubing and lighter components. He said he would decide what to charge for additional bikes after seeing how the first seven went.

- Vacuum Insulated Steel: Double wall vacuum insulated stainless steel helps maintain cold drink temperatures during long rides, training sessions, and warm weather conditions.
- High Flow Drink Cap: High flow cap supports quick lift and sip hydration without squeezing the bottle during road, gravel, or trail rides.
- Leak Proof Lockout: Integrated lockout helps prevent leaks during transport, storage, and rough terrain riding.
- Secure Bike Cage Fit: Optimized bottle shape is designed to fit securely in most bike cages for stable performance on the bike.
- Durable Steel Construction: Premium stainless steel construction is built for repeated use and long term cycling performance.
That account supports calling the first group a small batch. It does not establish a numbered edition, a final production cap, a total number ever made, or present-day scarcity. The same report gave these project-specific figures:
- About 14 kg (31 lb): weight of the first completed Viks, as reported by New Atlas in 2013.
- About 10 kg (22 lb): Narusk’s target for the next batch, using thinner tubing and lighter components—not a measured specification for every later bike.
- Seven pre-sold bicycles: the follow-on group reported in 2013.
How did later Viks versions differ?
“Viks” refers to more than one configuration. Materials and components changed over time, so the stainless-steel fixed-gear commuter described in 2013 should not be treated as interchangeable with later editions or GT builds.

Availability is not established by the dated production announcements. TheArsenale’s collection page, accessed October 8, 2026, describes Viks bicycles as handcrafted to order by Velonia in Tallinn and lists four products, but marks the displayed examples sold. The GT Launch Edition page also marks its example sold and offers a contact route to ask about a similar piece. Those listings show that Viks models have been offered; they do not confirm current stock, a current maker waiting list, or a current price.
