It describes a fixed-wing design with wing sections and deformable portions, but it does not establish that a complete airplane was built or flown. The distinction matters: the record is evidence of a disclosed design, not a finished aircraft or a Koenigsegg aviation program.
What the patent discloses
International publication WO2025120072A1 is titled “Closed-winged aircraft.” Its application, PCT/EP2024/084904, claims priority from 5 December 2023, and the publication names Christian von Koenigsegg as inventor. The patent listing describes a fixed-wing aircraft with a closed-wing arrangement comprising wing sections and deformable wing portions. Read the WO2025120072A1 patent publication.
That is enough to call it a patented aircraft concept associated with Koenigsegg. It is not enough to claim he built an entire airplane: a patent publication documents a disclosure and its claims, not a completed airframe, flight tests, certification, or production.
What the record does—and does not—prove
- Established: the publication concerns a closed-wing fixed-wing aircraft concept and names Koenigsegg as inventor.
- Not established by the publication: that a prototype exists, that the design has flown, or that an aircraft has been certified or manufactured.
- Not established by the company pages: an official Koenigsegg airplane product or aviation program.
The available company biography describes Koenigsegg as an inventor and entrepreneur, while the company profile identifies Koenigsegg as a Swedish automotive and technology company founded in 1994. Those pages provide context for his automotive work, not evidence of an airplane program. Koenigsegg’s company profile and official biography and company story.
#1 Best Overall
- IFF antenna array in front of the cockpit distinguishes this CCIP-equipped model from other F-16s.
- Curved form of the F-16 accurately reproduced with trademark Tamiya precision.
- Moveable horizontal stabilizers. "Flaperons" can be modelled in the up or down positions.
- Full ordnance load including AGM-88 HARM, AIM-120C AMRAAM, AIM-9M/X Sidewinder, ECM pod, and fuel tanks included.
- Centerline and inner wing pylons as well as tail assembly feature polycaps to allow easy detachment for storage.
What “closed-wing” means here
The patent’s title and description identify the configuration as closed-wing and refer to wing sections and deformable portions. The publication is the basis for those design details; it does not, by itself, show how a finished aircraft would perform. No verified performance figures or flight-test results are established by the cited record, so claims about speed, efficiency, handling, or other advantages would go beyond the evidence.
Patent status is jurisdiction-specific
A corresponding European publication, EP4566939A1, is reported as withdrawn in the patent listing. That is a status associated with that European application; it does not show that the invention lacks protection in every jurisdiction. Patent status can vary by country and change over time, so a current legal-status conclusion requires checking the relevant official registers. See the EP4566939A1 listing.

Why the headline needs a qualification
“Designed an entire airplane” can suggest a complete aircraft exists. What the record supports is narrower: Koenigsegg is named as inventor on a patent publication for a closed-wing aircraft concept. Until there is reliable evidence of construction or flight, describing it as a built or flown airplane would turn a design disclosure into a claim the documents do not make.
