The clearest model ranking located is an older five-car poll from the UK; a separate U.S. survey ranked vehicle styles, makes and colors—not models. Those results can offer a snapshot, but they should not be mistaken for a present-day consensus or proof that a car makes its driver more attractive.
What the older surveys say about cars driven by men
The available findings answer different questions, use different measures and come from different countries and years. They cannot be combined into a single ranked list of ten cars.

The five specific models in the UK poll
The only model-by-model ranking in these findings is the UK poll summarized by DJS Research. It named five cars—not ten—and the summary does not publish the details needed to treat its order as a precise, nationally representative measure of current preferences.
- Audi A5
- BMW 3 Series
- Volkswagen Golf
- Seat Ibiza
- BMW 1 Series
These are the cars reported in that September 2012 summary, not a current global ranking. The poll’s wording concerned cars driven by men that British women found “sexiest”; it did not establish that owning or driving one of these models causes greater attraction.

What the U.S. survey ranked—and what it did not
In Insure.com’s survey of women licensed drivers, respondents’ leading associations with attractive male drivers were pickup trucks (32%), sports cars (27%), SUVs (16%), sedans (11%), hybrid/electric vehicles (9%), UPS trucks (4%), minivans (2%) and mail trucks (1%). These figures describe each respondent’s top-ranked vehicle-style association as reported by Insure.com. They are not ownership rates or model preferences.
The survey reported makes and colors as separate categories: Ford was the leading make at 16%, followed by Chevrolet (13%) and Porsche (11%); black was the leading color at 53%, followed by silver (16%) and red (13%). A pickup-truck result, a Ford result and a black-car result do not add up to a winning Ford pickup in black: the survey did not report that combination or a ten-model ranking.
Why these results are not a current top 10
- The dates are old or the question is different. The model poll dates to 2012, and Insure.com’s U.S. survey was fielded in 2013. Aviva’s 2024 fieldwork, reported in January 2025, asks about having a car in a potential relationship, not preferred models.
- The measures cannot be merged. A model, vehicle style, manufacturer and color are different categories. Combining them would create a ranking no survey produced.
- The geography and respondents vary. The findings cover a UK poll, a U.S. licensed-driver panel and Irish adults. They do not establish what women of different ages, orientations or relationship contexts currently prefer.
- Attraction is not a causal claim. A poll about associations does not show that a particular car makes its driver more attractive.
Attraction polls are not car-buying surveys
Research into what women choose for themselves answers a separate question. A 2024 U.S. survey by GoGoGirlGo asked women about their own recent vehicle purchases and preferences, not the attractiveness of a potential date’s car. Its leading purchase considerations were reliability (38%), style/design (33%), brand (31%), price (28%) and technology/features (24%); respondents could select up to three. Italian registration figures are another distinct measure. UNRAE’s analysis of 2024 data reported that, among women buyers of new cars in Italy, segment B represented 65.3% and SUVs 50.3%; these describe purchases and registrations, not attraction to someone else’s car. UNRAE’s 2024 analysis
How to read a “most attractive car” list
Check what was actually asked and ranked before treating a list as a recommendation. A useful report should identify the country, survey date, respondents, exact question and unit being ranked—such as a model, body style or make. Without those details, “women prefer” risks turning one dated poll into a claim about everyone.
