But its two most striking numbers need qualification: the 9,300-rpm figure comes from secondary reporting, while 87 mph is not established here as an official factory top speed. A U.S. import may be possible for an individual car, but eligibility depends on its actual manufacture date and more than the model name.
What is the Suzuki Cappuccino?
The Cappuccino is a compact, Japanese-market kei roadster. Japanese Car Trade describes it as having a turbocharged 657 cc three-cylinder engine. That makes the car’s appeal less about outright speed than its small dimensions, open-air format and unusually high-revving engine claims. The engine and displacement description is from secondary coverage, not a Suzuki factory specification sheet located for this article. Japanese Car Trade
Does it really rev to 9,300 rpm?
Jalopnik reported in 2026 that the Cappuccino’s three-cylinder engine revs to 9,300 rpm. That figure is a secondary-source claim: no original Suzuki documentation confirming the factory redline was located. Treat it as a reported specification, not a verified figure from the manufacturer. Jalopnik
What is the Suzuki Cappuccino’s top speed?
The headline’s 87 mph figure should not be read as a confirmed factory top speed. The comparison source that pairs 87 mph with 150 km/h gives an inconsistent conversion: 150 km/h is about 93 mph. No authoritative Suzuki source was found to settle the official top speed, so neither number should be presented as verified manufacturer data. Japanese Car Trade

Can you import a Suzuki Cappuccino to the U.S.?
Potentially, but the answer is specific to the vehicle. A current 2026 eligibility calendar bases the federal age calculation on the individual car’s manufacture date, not just its model year. The calendar also distinguishes EPA eligibility from state registration. A separate buyer guide explains the 25-year import rule and cautions that Japan-market cars can differ from export-market versions in engine, trim, equipment and specifications. 2026 eligibility calendar · Buyer guide
Before paying for a car or arranging shipment, verify its manufacture date and supporting documents, its federal import status, and the registration requirements in the state where it will be titled. A Cappuccino’s model name alone does not establish that a particular example can be imported and registered.

What should you check before buying one?
- Identity and records: Confirm the exact car and its documentation, including the date it was manufactured.
- Federal eligibility: Check the vehicle’s status under the applicable import rules and confirm EPA requirements separately.
- State registration: Ask the destination state what it requires to title and register that specific vehicle.
- Specification: Verify the actual engine, trim and equipment rather than assuming every market version is identical.
- Logistics: If using a sourcing or import service, confirm its scope, availability and costs directly; service offerings do not establish that a particular Cappuccino is available or eligible.
