Clayton Lloyd Iley, a Texas businessman who pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, was sentenced to 160 months in federal prison on October 1, 2026. His plea agreement covers more than 90 exotic and collector vehicles obtained with proceeds of his fraud scheme. The U.S. Department of Justice says vehicles investigators secured will be sold to fund restitution for victims; it has not announced a sale date, venue, or final recovery amount.
What happened in the case
Iley, 41, of Stephenville, Texas, pleaded guilty on June 17, 2026. The Northern District of Texas said he operated Clayton Texas Legacy Insurance Group, an insurance brokerage headquartered in Cross Plains, and used at least two companies he controlled—Texas Legacy Holdings and Enterprises, LLC, and Spartan Global Security, LLC, doing business as “Black Eagle PMC”—to move money.
According to the Justice Department, the conduct ran from January 2020 through May 2026 and involved a purported loan program, insurance premiums, and credit cards opened using victims’ identities.
How the purported “Bonded Note” scheme worked
The largest described part of the fraud involved a program Iley represented as a U.S. Department of Defense loan program for private military contractors. DOJ says no such program existed. Iley collected more than $2 million through that misrepresentation, then used the money for personal expenses and to carry out other parts of the scheme.

Insurance premiums and identity misuse
DOJ also says Iley collected insurance premiums from clients without opening the policies they had requested. In addition, he provided victims’ identifying information to financial institutions to obtain credit cards in their names without their knowledge or authorization. The cards were used for personal expenses, including exotic and collector vehicles.
What is known about the cars
The forfeiture agreement covers more than 90 exotic and collector vehicles, but that figure is not the same as a public, complete inventory of cars already seized. DOJ’s public releases list vehicles secured at different stages of the case, and neither announcement should be treated as a full vehicle-by-vehicle accounting of the 90-plus cars.

Examples named in DOJ’s lists span several kinds of vehicles: a 2012 Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari 488s, Maserati MC20s, Dodge Vipers, a Porsche Taycan, a Jeep Gladiator, Toyota and Dodge Ram vehicles, a Pontiac Firebird, Chevrolet Camaros, a Plymouth coupe, and military vehicles including a Humvee and BMY M923 variants. The plea announcement names multiple vehicles of some models. These examples do not establish how many of each model were covered or the collection’s total value.
What happens to the forfeited vehicles
DOJ says vehicles investigators secured will be sold to fund restitution owed to Iley’s victims. Federal prosecutors and agencies can pursue seizure and forfeiture of assets bought with fraud proceeds, after which forfeited property may be sold with the goal of compensating victims.

The available DOJ announcements do not identify where or when these cars will be sold, how much they will bring, or how much victims will ultimately receive. A promise that proceeds will fund restitution is not confirmation that a sale has taken place or that victims have already been paid.
