They are not one uniform set of carmakers: the portfolio includes passenger-car, van and motorcycle brands, arranged in three brand groups, while the wider company also includes a separate truck group and other businesses.
That distinction is the key to understanding how Volkswagen’s brands are related—and why broader lists can contain more names than the official ten-brand roster.
What brands does Volkswagen Group own?
Volkswagen Group’s current Group profile lists these ten brands:
- Volkswagen
- Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles
- Škoda
- SEAT
- CUPRA
- Audi
- Lamborghini
- Bentley
- Porsche
- Ducati
The Group describes the brands as coming from five European countries. The list combines passenger-car marques with a commercial-vehicle brand and a motorcycle brand; “Volkswagen Group brands” does not mean that every name refers to the same type of business.

How are the brands organized?
Volkswagen Group’s brand-group structure sorts the ten into Core, Progressive and Sport Luxury. The categories describe the company’s current portfolio organization, not a complete history of how each marque began or joined the Group.

Core: volume cars, vans and distinct identities
Core brings together Volkswagen, Škoda, SEAT, CUPRA and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. The Group’s structure places SEAT and CUPRA together in this category, but they remain separately named brands in the ten-brand profile. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is also distinct from the Volkswagen passenger-car brand.

Progressive: premium cars and motorcycles
Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and Ducati sit in Progressive. Three are car brands; Ducati makes motorcycles. Their shared group placement signals collaboration within Volkswagen Group, not that they build the same kinds of vehicles or have interchangeable identities.
Sport Luxury: Porsche
Porsche occupies the Sport Luxury group by itself. Its placement reflects the Group’s current portfolio structure. It does not, on its own, explain Porsche’s history or all the details of its corporate relationship with Volkswagen Group.

Why do some lists include Scania, MAN or International?
Because the ten-brand profile and the wider commercial-vehicle business are different ways of describing the company. Volkswagen Group’s 2025 annual report describes the trucks group under TRATON, listing Scania, MAN, Volkswagen Truck & Bus and International. It says the commercial-vehicle portfolio spans light vans through heavy trucks and buses.
These truck names belong in an account of the broader Volkswagen Group business, but they are not on the profile’s current ten-brand list. In particular, Volkswagen Truck & Bus should not be confused with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: they appear in different parts of the company structure and serve different commercial-vehicle roles.

What about Scout, CARIAD, MOIA and PowerCo?
Volkswagen Group’s 2026 Factbook lists Scout, CARIAD, MOIA and PowerCo under “Other Brands and Business Units.” It presents Volkswagen Financial Services separately. Those names help show the breadth of the Group, but they should not be added to the ten-brand count: the company distinguishes its core brand roster from other brands, business units and financial services.

The best starting point for individual histories is Volkswagen Group’s history directory. It links histories for a selection of brands and businesses, including Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Ducati, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, as well as MAN, Scania and Volkswagen Financial Services.

It is not a complete, consistently structured chronology of all ten current brands. The directory includes Bugatti, for example, but Bugatti is absent from the Group profile’s current ten-brand list. A history page’s presence therefore should not be treated as proof that a name belongs to that roster. The available directory is useful for exploring individual stories, while the clearest concise account of how the brands relate today is the current group structure: three brand groups, plus a wider set of commercial-vehicle operations and other businesses.
