There is no reliable, apples-to-apples ranking of the 10 slowest new cars sold in the U.S. in 2025 in the available test results. Published 0–60 mph times do identify several notably slow examples, but they come from different years, trims, drivetrains and testing outlets. The Hyundai Venue and Chevrolet Trax recorded 8.5 and 8.8 seconds, respectively, in Car and Driver tests; the 2025 Nissan Kicks’ published times range from 9.5 to 10.3 seconds depending on the test and configuration.
This is therefore a roundup of documented slow-acceleration examples, not a definitive ten-car ranking. “Buy in 2025” means new vehicles available in the U.S. during calendar 2025, not necessarily 2025 model-year cars; that distinction matters for discontinued models such as the Mitsubishi Mirage.
Why this is not a definitive top 10
A valid ranking would require comparable 0–60 mph tests for ten cars, using consistent methods and clearly identified model years, trims and drivetrains. The available results do not provide that dataset. Test conditions and vehicle configurations differ, so ordering these mixed results into a precise league table would imply a level of comparability they do not establish.
A 0–60 time is a publication’s result for the vehicle it tested—not a manufacturer guarantee for every version of that model. Treat the figures below as useful examples, not as predictions for every car with the same nameplate.

Documented slow-acceleration examples
| Vehicle and tested configuration | Published 0–60 mph time | New-car status in 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 Hyundai Venue; configuration not specified in the cited result | 8.5 seconds, Car and Driver test | 2025 model-year vehicle |
| 2025 Chevrolet Trax; configuration not specified in the cited result | 8.8 seconds, Car and Driver test | 2025 model-year vehicle |
| 2023 Nissan Versa SR | 9.5 seconds, Car and Driver test | Not a 2025 model-year test; Nissan’s page retains 2025 references but labels the Versa discontinued |
| 2024 Nissan Versa SV | 9.6 seconds, Consumer Reports 2025 buying guide road test | Prior model year; availability as new inventory in 2025 is not established here |
| 2025 Nissan Kicks; configuration not specified in the cited result | 10.3 seconds, Edmunds test | 2025 model-year vehicle |
| 2025 Nissan Kicks SV AWD | 9.5 seconds, Consumer Reports road test | 2025 model-year vehicle |
| 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage ES | 12.1 seconds, Consumer Reports 2025 buying guide road test | Mirage was discontinued after model year 2024; this is relevant only to remaining new inventory, not a 2025 model-year list |
The table is deliberately not sorted into a winner-to-loser ranking: it mixes test outlets and configurations, and some entries are not 2025 model-year cars. The available evidence also does not establish ten distinct vehicles with comparable results.
What the individual results tell you
Hyundai Venue: 8.5 seconds
Car and Driver measured 8.5 seconds from 0–60 mph in its test of a 2025 Venue. Hyundai lists the Venue’s 1.6-liter four-cylinder at 121 horsepower and 113 lb-ft of torque, with front-wheel drive and an Intelligent Variable Transmission. Hyundai does not state a 0–60 time in its specifications, so the acceleration figure belongs to Car and Driver’s test rather than the manufacturer’s rating. Car and Driver’s Venue coverage and Hyundai’s official Venue specifications identify the relevant information.

Chevrolet Trax: 8.8 seconds
Car and Driver reports an 8.8-second 0–60 mph test for the 2025 Trax. Its review also reports EPA estimates of 28 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. Those are EPA fuel-economy estimates as reported by Car and Driver, not a guarantee of what an individual driver will achieve. The test time does not establish that every Trax trim will produce the same result. See Car and Driver’s Trax coverage.
Nissan Versa: results are from earlier model years
The available Versa numbers do not establish a 2025-model-year test. Car and Driver reports 9.5 seconds for a 2023 Versa SR. Consumer Reports’ 2025 buying guide lists 9.6 seconds for a road-tested 2024 Versa SV. Nissan’s official page now labels the Versa discontinued despite retaining 2025 references, so check the vehicle’s model year and whether a particular car is genuinely available as new inventory rather than assuming a current 2025 model exists. Nissan Kicks: two tests, two times
Edmunds reports 10.3 seconds for its 2025 Kicks test and describes it as the slowest vehicle in the extra-small SUV class in its review. Consumer Reports reports 9.5 seconds for its tested 2025 Kicks SV AWD. These are different publications’ results, and the Consumer Reports configuration is specifically an SV with all-wheel drive. The gap is a reason to retain the source and configuration alongside each number—not to average the times or treat one as the universal result for every Kicks. See Edmunds’ 2025 Kicks review and Consumer Reports’ Kicks road-test information.
Mitsubishi Mirage: a leftover-inventory case
Consumer Reports’ 2025 buying guide lists a 12.1-second result for the Mirage ES, but the tested Mirage was a 2024 model. Mitsubishi discontinued the Mirage after model year 2024. A remaining new Mirage might have been available from a dealer during calendar 2025, but that does not make it a 2025 model-year car, and the available information does not establish how widely such inventory remained available. Include it only when discussing cars that shoppers might still find new during 2025—not in a strict list of 2025 model-year vehicles. How to use 0–60 times when shopping
- Match the tested version. Check model year, trim and drivetrain; a result for a Versa SR or Kicks SV AWD should not be silently applied to another configuration.
- Keep the source attached to the time. Different outlets’ figures are not automatically comparable, as the two Kicks results illustrate.
- Check model-year status separately from sale timing. A discontinued prior-year car left at a dealer is not a current model-year vehicle.
- Consider the use case, not only acceleration. Body style, fuel economy and the kind of driving you do matter alongside a test result. For example, Car and Driver reports the Trax’s EPA estimates as 28 mpg city and 32 mpg highway.
For the specific cars with documented results here, the Venue and Trax are the slowest by the reported Car and Driver times, while the Kicks has a slower result in one publication’s test than in another’s. That does not prove they are the slowest new cars across the entire 2025 U.S. market; the evidence does not support that broader claim.
