The 2024 70/SS’s most revealing detail is its modern foundation: it is a Trans Am Worldwide-built tribute to the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport, based on GM Alpha architecture associated with the current-generation Camaro. It is not a new Chevrolet-production Chevelle. The company advertises an LS6/X twin-turbo 454 option at 1,500 rear-wheel horsepower, but that figure is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified test result.
What is the secret behind the 70/SS?
It is less a hidden engine trick than a blend of classic styling and modern underpinnings. Motor Authority identifies the 70/SS as based on GM’s Alpha platform, the architecture used by the current-generation Camaro. GMEFI reports that Trans Am Worldwide used Alpha-platform donor vehicles, mainly Camaros, as well as some Cadillac ATS and CTS models. Those details help explain how a car styled as a 1970 Chevelle tribute can be built around a much newer platform.
Trans Am Worldwide describes the car as a tribute to the 1970 Chevelle Super Sport. Calling it a factory-built or newly produced Chevrolet Chevelle would be inaccurate: the 70/SS is a modern conversion created by Trans Am Worldwide, not a new model from Chevrolet.
How much power does the 70/SS make?
Trans Am Worldwide lists three broad powertrain descriptions on its product page. The horsepower figures below are the manufacturer’s advertised outputs, not independently verified results.
#1 Best Overall
- Approximately 7-1/2" Long
- Scaled replicas of cars and trucks
- Die-cast metal body with plastic details
- Opening doors on all- some with opening hoods and trunks
- Detailed chassis
| Configuration | Advertised output | What the figure describes |
|---|---|---|
| LT1 | 450 hp | Manufacturer-stated starting option; the page does not specify whether this is engine or rear-wheel horsepower. |
| 396-cubic-inch option | 900 hp | Manufacturer-advertised rear-wheel horsepower. |
| LS6/X twin-turbo 454 | 1,500 hp | Manufacturer-advertised streetable rear-wheel horsepower. |
That distinction matters: the 1,500 figure is specifically presented as rear-wheel horsepower, not a rating measured at the engine. The product page does not provide an independent dyno result or testing conditions, so it should be understood as Trans Am Worldwide’s claim rather than a verified output.
Is the 1,500-hp version limited?
Trans Am Worldwide says the LS6/X model will be limited to 25 units. That is the manufacturer’s stated production limit; the available source does not independently confirm how many have been built or delivered.

What was the price, and can you order one now?
SEMA reported a $150,000 starting price when the car was announced and said it would go on sale to the public on May 14, 2022. That is historical launch information, not a current quote or confirmation that orders are open today. Trans Am Worldwide’s product page invites price inquiries but does not establish current pricing or availability. Contact the builder for an up-to-date quote and order status.
What other options were described?
The manufacturer’s page describes customization and color choices, along with removable-hard-top, brake, and wheel options. SEMA’s 2022 launch coverage said the cars would be available with manual or automatic transmissions. These are descriptions from the launch-era and product-page material; they do not establish that every option remains available for a current build. Confirm the exact configuration with Trans Am Worldwide.

How does it compare with a 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6?
The shared LS6 name can cause confusion. Hagerty’s 2024 valuation report gives the original 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 a period specification of 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft. That is a specification for the historic Chevrolet, not the modern 70/SS’s twin-turbo 454 option. The modern car’s advertised 1,500 rear-wheel horsepower belongs to a different build and should not be read as a factory-era Chevelle rating.

The available sources do not establish independent testing of the 1,500-rwhp claim, current build availability or pricing, warranty terms, delivery timing, or road-registration details. Buyers should ask the builder about the specific donor vehicle, build specification, included equipment, and local registration requirements before committing.
