That report gave it a 250 W motor, a top speed of 20 km/h, a claimed range of up to 40 km depending on rider and terrain, and a weight of 12 kg. Those are historical reported specifications—not independently verified test results or proof of present-day performance. A September 2012 SSIKE manual offers more useful detail for owners, including battery and charging guidance, safety limits, maintenance advice and warranty terms. Current scooter, charger, parts and repair availability has not been established.
What the SSIKE is—and what its reported specifications mean
The SSIKE was presented as a lightweight personal electric scooter. New Atlas reported its specifications in an article published around 2013. The figures below describe what that report said; they should not be treated as independently tested results or as guarantees for a surviving used scooter.

Because these figures come from a historical product report, they are not a substitute for inspecting a particular scooter’s condition, battery capacity, brakes or documentation. No current SSIKE model variants or configurations are established.
Battery and charging guidance in the manual
Battery type
The September 2012 SSIKE user manual describes a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery made from 12 prismatic cells. That description identifies the battery chemistry and construction; it does not establish the health or remaining capacity of a battery in a used scooter.

Use the SSIKE-specific charger
The manual says to charge the scooter with the standard charger designed for SSIKE batteries and warns against using a different type of charger or an adapter. It describes charging as taking up to six hours. If charging has not finished with a beep after six hours, the manual directs the owner to contact a dealer. Do not assume a generic charger is compatible: no current SSIKE-specific replacement charger listing or compatibility information has been established.

- Rider weight: Do not exceed the manual’s maximum of 90 kg.
- Helmet: Wear an approved bicycle helmet and ride at a speed appropriate to the circumstances. The manual does not identify a particular helmet standard or model.
- Wet conditions: Do not ride in the rain or on very wet pavement.
- Slopes: Do not ride downhill on a slope greater than 10%.
These are instructions from a dated manual, not confirmation that the scooter meets any present-day local road or equipment requirements. Check applicable rules where you intend to ride, and have the scooter inspected if its braking, battery or other safety-critical condition is uncertain.

Preventive maintenance
The manual recommends preventive maintenance by an authorized SSIKE service provider every six months. It also makes periodic preventive maintenance a condition of the warranty it describes. The manual is dated September 2012, and current authorized service availability has not been established.

Warranty
The manual states a two-year warranty from acquisition, subject to its conditions and exclusions. It lists exclusions that include wear items, misuse, accidents, modifications, unsuitable conditions and improper maintenance. These historical terms should not be assumed to cover a scooter today or to apply to every used scooter. Check the individual scooter’s purchase and warranty documents and whether an appropriate service provider is available before relying on any coverage.
What to verify before buying or riding a used SSIKE
The reported range and age of the product make the condition of the individual scooter more important than its original headline specifications. Ask the seller for evidence rather than assuming the original battery, charger or warranty remains usable.
- Confirm that the scooter powers on, charges and operates with its SSIKE-specific charger; do not substitute an unverified charger.
- Ask for the battery’s age, service history and any evidence of its current condition. The original manual’s battery description does not establish present capacity.
- Inspect the brakes, tires, frame and controls, and ask whether preventive maintenance was performed by an authorized SSIKE provider.
- Check whether the seller can document the scooter’s history and any remaining warranty coverage.
- Verify that parts, a suitable charger and competent repair service are actually available where you live. Current availability has not been established.
If comparing a SSIKE with another scooter, compare verified condition and service history, battery and charger support, rider limit, braking and slope guidance, portability, and substantiated range claims—not just the SSIKE’s historical reported figures.
