There is no single replacement price for every Honda Insight. Cost depends on the model year, the battery type and condition, and whether the advertised price covers parts only or a complete installation. Current advertised examples range from a $900 DIY conversion product for some 2000–2006 Insights to a $3,774.36 reseller listing for a later-generation OEM battery set—but those figures describe different products and are not comparable installed quotes. Get a written estimate based on your VIN and diagnosis before deciding.
What replacement listings show by Insight generation
The figures below are advertised examples reported in CarBatteryCenter’s market overview, accessed in 2026, plus a HondaPartsNow catalog listing accessed in 2026. Prices and availability can change. They are not verified current quotes, and the listings differ in product type and installation scope.
| Insight model years | Advertised examples | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| 2000–2006 | Greentec listed a remanufactured NiMH pack at $1,395 with a 12-month headline warranty; an “8.0 Amp Cells” NiMH listing at $2,095 with 36 months; and a $2,899 lithium upgrade with a 36-month warranty, marked shop-install-only. A DIY lithium conversion product was listed at $900 with a 30-day limited warranty. Best Hybrid Batteries listed a pack at $1,749 and advertised “unlimited mileage,” but the cited material did not establish the warranty duration. | These are different products and service models. The $900 DIY conversion is not equivalent to the shop-installed $2,899 upgrade. “8.0 Amp Cells” is the seller’s label, not independent proof of measured capacity or performance. |
| 2010–2014 | Greentec listed a new-cell pack at $2,095 and displayed a $1,499 sale price for a remanufactured pack; another passage cited $1,795 for that remanufactured version. Best Hybrid Batteries listed a pack at $1,749 with “unlimited mileage” advertised, but duration was not established. | The conflicting remanufactured prices make a dated written quote especially important. A headline price does not establish fitment or whether installation, tax, shipping, a core charge, or full warranty coverage is included. |
| 2019–2022 | Greentec listed an aftermarket pack at $2,499, marked shop-install-only. HondaPartsNow displayed a $3,774.36 price and $4,855.34 MSRP for an OEM battery set. | The $2,499 is an aftermarket listing, not a Honda dealer-installed price. The HondaPartsNow amount is a reseller parts listing, not an installed-cost quote or confirmation of current availability. Confirm fitment by VIN. |
These examples do not establish a current dealer-installed OEM traction-battery price for any Insight generation. For the later-generation parts listing, see HondaPartsNow; confirm the exact part and current price directly before relying on it. The listing figures above are reported by CarBatteryCenter.

High-voltage hybrid traction battery
The traction battery is part of the hybrid powertrain. It is the battery addressed by the replacement-pack examples above. A replacement quote should say explicitly that it covers this high-voltage pack.

12-volt battery
The ordinary 12-volt battery is a separate component, and its replacement cost is not the cost of replacing the hybrid pack. For example, the market overview reports a Kelley Blue Book estimate of $319–$454 installed for a conventional battery on a 2020 Insight near Fairfax, Virginia; that estimate is for the 12-volt battery only.
Check warranty coverage before approving a paid replacement
Honda’s official electrified-vehicle warranty chart describes an 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty for abnormal loss of high-voltage battery capacity. It says gradual capacity loss is expected and is not covered, and notes that other warranties may offer additional coverage. Coverage depends on the vehicle and applicable terms, so check the owner’s warranty booklet and vehicle-specific eligibility before authorizing a paid replacement. See Honda’s electrified-vehicle warranty information.

Regional terms and historical prices should not be mistaken for current U.S. pricing. In a June 5, 2013 press release, Honda Malaysia announced RM3,980 for a replacement nickel-metal battery in a 2011 Insight, reduced from RM7,580—a stated 47% reduction. The release also described an extended Insight warranty of up to eight years with unlimited mileage, subject to terms. Those were historical Malaysia figures and terms, not current prices or coverage for other markets. See Honda Malaysia’s 2013 announcement.
How to compare written replacement quotes
Ask a Honda dealer or qualified hybrid shop to diagnose the vehicle and quote against its VIN. Compare estimates only after confirming that they cover the same work and type of battery.

- Confirm the car and fitment: Give the shop the VIN and model year, and ask it to identify the compatible traction pack.
- Identify the battery offered: Ask whether the part is OEM, used, remanufactured, described as new-cell, or a conversion product. Request the source and condition in writing.
- Separate part price from installed total: Have the quote list diagnosis, labor, shipping, tax, and any core charge separately, and state whether installation is included.
- Get the warranty terms: Confirm duration, mileage limits, what is covered, and exclusions. An advertised “unlimited mileage” headline is not enough if duration and terms are unclear.
- Check the scope and timing: Confirm what the diagnostic and installation work includes, the current price, and whether the part is available for your VIN.
A $900 conversion product, a shop-install-only upgrade, and an OEM parts listing cannot be ranked by price alone: each may cover a different product and level of service. Use the written installed total and warranty terms for the same VIN and repair scope when comparing options.
