Porsche unveiled the new 911 Turbo S at IAA Mobility in Munich on 7 September 2025, calling it the 2026 model in its US announcement. The headline change is a T-Hybrid powertrain with two electric exhaust gas turbochargers; Porsche says the system delivers 701 hp in the US and 711 PS in Europe. Coupe and Cabriolet versions are offered.

What changed in the new 911 Turbo S?

Porsche presents the car as the range-topping 911 and its most powerful production 911 to date. The central change is its hybrid-assisted powertrain, alongside higher claimed output and quicker acceleration figures than the predecessor cited by Porsche. Those are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.

In its European announcement, Porsche describes the new Turbo S as producing 523 kW (711 PS), compared with 478 kW (650 PS) for its stated predecessor baseline. The US announcement reports 701 hp, or 523 kW. The regional units differ; the figures describe Porsche’s system-output claim.

How does the T-Hybrid powertrain work?

The system combines a 3.6-litre six-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine with a 400 V T-Hybrid setup and a 1.9 kWh high-voltage battery. Porsche says the Turbo S has two electric exhaust gas turbochargers, while the 911 Carrera GTS T-Hybrid uses one. An eight-speed PDK transmission with an integrated electric motor sends power to Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive.

Porsche’s European release gives maximum torque as 800 Nm, available from 2,300 to 6,000 rpm. Its US release states 590 lb-ft. These are Porsche-published specifications for their respective announcements.

How fast is it, according to Porsche?

The figures vary by region and measurement convention, so they should be read in the units Porsche publishes rather than treated as directly interchangeable:

  • European announcement: 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 8.4 seconds, and a 322 km/h top speed.
  • US announcement: 0–60 mph in 2.4 seconds and a 200 mph top track speed.

Porsche also says the new car is quicker than its predecessor. Its European release states that the new Turbo S completed a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife 14 seconds faster than its predecessor, but that is a manufacturer-reported comparison, not an independent road test.

Coupe or Cabriolet: what are the US launch prices?

Porsche’s US announcement lists these starting MSRPs for the two body styles:

What should buyers take from the announcement?
