But the published figures are manufacturer specifications, not proof of how far it will travel or how it feels on a particular weekend route. This is a researched preview, not a report from a drive.
What the A290 GTS is—and which version the figures describe
Alpine presents the A290 as a fully electric sporty city car. The launch-era GTS is the 220 bhp version, with a 52 kWh battery and 300 Nm of torque. Alpine quoted 0–100 km/h in 6.4 seconds for that version. These are manufacturer figures, not independently measured results. Alpine’s 2024 launch announcement describes the launch range and its specifications.
Trim names depend on market and model year. The UK product page currently presents the top version as GTS+, and describes it as offering up to 220 hp (160 kW). The launch-era GTS and current UK GTS+ labels should not be treated as interchangeable without checking the specification for the car being considered. Alpine UK’s A290 page shows its current UK naming.
Range figures need their source and context
Alpine’s UK brochure lists a 364 km combined WLTP range for the GTS. The 2024 launch announcement gives “up to 380 km WLTP” for the 220 bhp version in the range. The available manufacturer materials do not resolve why the figures differ, so they should be kept attached to their respective source and version context rather than blended into one promise. The UK A290 brochure contains the 364 km figure.

Neither figure predicts the distance available on a particular weekend. Weather, speed, route profile and other driving conditions affect real-world range; no route, weather or consumption result is established here. Drivers planning a trip should use the car’s live range estimate and identify suitable charging options along their route rather than treating WLTP as a guaranteed journey distance.
Charging: useful specifications, not a route result
Alpine’s launch material specifies DC fast charging up to 100 kW and an 11 kW bidirectional AC onboard charger. Those ratings describe the charging hardware; they do not establish a specific stop duration or how often a weekend route would require charging. The brochure includes a Mode 3 charging cable, so check the actual vehicle’s supplied equipment before buying another cable.

A cold-weather range question is a reasonable one for prospective owners, but an owner-community post asking what range people get in the cold is not a representative survey or a verified range result. The post is best read as evidence of a question owners ask, not as a numerical answer.
What the chassis and dimensions suggest on paper
The UK brochure lists an Alpine Sport chassis with hydraulic bump stops, multilink rear suspension and front-wheel drive. It specifies 19-inch wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres for the GTS. Those details establish the hardware and intended sporty positioning; they cannot substitute for a firsthand assessment of ride, handling or comfort.

- Miniature and model
The same brochure gives the car’s length as 3,997 mm and width as 1,823 mm excluding mirrors, or 2,020 mm including them. Boot capacity is listed as 326 litres under the parcel shelf, falling to 300 litres with the high-fidelity Devialet audio system. These are useful planning figures, but luggage shape and the actual equipment fitted still matter when deciding whether a particular load will fit.
Practical checks before a weekend away
- Confirm the exact car. Check country, model year and trim badge; UK materials currently use GTS+, while Alpine’s launch announcement refers to the GTS.
- Plan charging around the route. Use route-specific charging information and the car’s live estimate; the stated WLTP range is not a guaranteed real-world distance.
- Check what is supplied. The brochure lists a Mode 3 cable, but verify the delivered equipment for the individual vehicle.
- Verify replacement tyres carefully. Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is the brochure-listed GTS fitment, but the exact size, load and speed rating, local approval and availability were not verified. Check the car’s tyre placard and market-specific specification before ordering.
For comparisons between A290 versions, use figures from the same market and model year. Power and acceleration, WLTP range, wheel and tyre specification, equipment and price are the useful axes; mixing UK information with German advertised prices would not produce a like-for-like comparison. Alpine’s German configurator is specific to that market.

A road-trip verdict depends on evidence the specifications cannot supply: the route and elevation, weather, starting charge, charging stops and time, and energy use over the drive. Without those details and firsthand observations, it would be misleading to claim a real-world weekend range, charging experience or driving impression. The A290 GTS can be assessed here as a promising electric hot hatch on paper; its performance on a specific weekend remains a question for an actual drive.
