If your ceiling is ₹8 lakh for a new Škoda in India, the shortlist currently contains one documented variant: the Kylaq Classic 1.0 TSI manual, listed at ₹7.59 lakh ex-showroom in Škoda Auto India’s January 2026 brochure. The Kylaq Classic+ starts at ₹8.25 lakh, while the Kushaq and Slavia start above ₹8 lakh.
That ₹7.59 lakh figure is a dated ex-showroom listing, not an on-road quotation or a guaranteed price in every city. Registration, insurance, taxes, dealer charges, offers and stock can change the amount you actually pay, so obtain an itemised quote from a local Škoda dealer before booking.

Best Škoda car under ₹8 lakh: the answer in one line
The Škoda Kylaq Classic 1.0 TSI with the manual gearbox is the only new Škoda variant evidenced below ₹8 lakh in the official price material available for 2026. Its January 2026 brochure price is ₹7,59,000 ex-showroom. No automatic Škoda is documented below the limit, and no Kushaq or Slavia variant meets it.

What “under ₹8 lakh” means here
Every figure in the official material is an ex-showroom price. It is the manufacturer’s price before location-dependent costs such as registration, road tax, insurance and dealer or statutory charges. An ex-showroom price of ₹7.59 lakh therefore does not mean the car will be delivered for ₹7.59 lakh.
For a meaningful comparison, keep the price basis identical. A dealer may quote an ex-showroom amount, an on-road amount, a finance repayment or a promotional price in the same conversation. Ask the salesperson to label each line and to state whether an offer is conditional on financing, insurance purchase or a limited period.

The differences in the last column are simple ex-showroom arithmetic against ₹8 lakh. They are not estimates of the eventual on-road gap, because taxes, insurance and dealer charges can vary by city and by transaction.
Škoda Kylaq Classic: the variant that qualifies
Price and powertrain description
The qualifying car is the Kylaq Classic with the 1.0 TSI engine and a manual transmission. The January 2026 brochure lists it at ₹7.59 lakh ex-showroom. The brochure is a dated manufacturer price record, so use it to identify the variant and its relative position, then confirm the live price with a dealer.
Škoda first announced the Kylaq on 6 November 2024 as its most accessible model in India, with a launch price of ₹7,89,000 ex-showroom. The later January 2026 brochure lists the Classic manual at ₹7,59,000. Those are two separate dated announcements; the difference should not be treated as a permanent nationwide discount or as proof that every dealer currently sells at either amount.

What the model represents
Škoda described the Kylaq as its first sub-four-metre SUV, designed in India for Indian customers. In the launch announcement, then-CEO Klaus Zellmer called it “our first sub-4-metre SUV, designed in India and for India as a new entry point to our brand.” He also described the ₹7,89,000 launch price as making it the company’s most accessible Indian model. These are manufacturer positioning statements, not independent road-test conclusions.
Safety information that is established
Škoda’s August 2026 Kylaq range announcement says that all variants have six airbags and identifies a five-star Bharat NCAP rating. The same announcement says selected lower trims gained Climatronic automatic air conditioning and a rear defogger. It does not provide a complete, variant-by-variant equipment list for the Classic in the material available here.

Why the Kylaq Classic+ is not an under-₹8-lakh car
The next listed manual is the Kylaq Classic+ at ₹8.25 lakh ex-showroom. It is ₹66,000 above the Kylaq Classic’s brochure price and ₹25,000 above an exact ₹8 lakh ceiling before any on-road costs. The Classic+ automatic is listed at ₹9.25 lakh, ₹1.66 lakh above the Classic manual.
Those differences can be useful when deciding whether to stretch, but the Classic+ should not be labelled an under-₹8-lakh variant. If your limit is a hard cap rather than a target ex-showroom amount, adding the Classic+ would require either a higher budget or a dealer discount that is explicitly confirmed in writing.

Why the Kushaq and Slavia do not qualify
Kushaq
Škoda’s March 2026 Kushaq announcement gives the 1.0 TSI range a starting price of ₹10.69 lakh ex-showroom. That is ₹2.69 lakh above ₹8 lakh before registration, insurance and other on-road costs. A lower-priced Kushaq variant is therefore not established by the cited official announcement.
Slavia
The October 2026 announcement lists the new Slavia Classic 1.0 TSI manual at ₹9,99,900 ex-showroom. It is ₹1,99,900 over the threshold before on-road charges. The entry manual is already above the budget, so choosing a different transmission or trim cannot bring the documented range under ₹8 lakh.
How to verify the real purchase price in your city
The published figure is only the starting point for a purchase calculation. Use this process before paying a booking amount:
- Specify the exact car. Write “Kylaq Classic 1.0 TSI manual” on your request. This prevents a quote for the similarly named Classic+ or for an automatic.
- Ask for the current ex-showroom price. Tell the dealer you are referring to the January 2026 brochure listing of ₹7.59 lakh, but ask whether the current price has changed.
- Request an itemised on-road sheet. It should separately identify registration and road-tax amounts for your state, insurance, fastag or statutory items, handling or logistics charges if any, accessories, discounts and taxes.
- Separate mandatory from optional items. Ask which charges are required to register and deliver the car and which are accessories or add-on products that you can decline.
- Check offer conditions. A discount may depend on financing, an exchange vehicle, a particular insurance policy, stock age or a booking date. Ask for the offer’s validity and conditions in writing.
- Confirm stock details. Verify the manufacturing month, vehicle identification number when allocated, colour, transmission and variant on the pro-forma invoice.
- Recalculate after finance selection. Compare the cash on-road total with the financed amount, interest, processing charges and any bundled products. A lower monthly payment does not necessarily mean a lower purchase cost.
- Recheck immediately before registration. Prices and statutory charges can change between booking and registration. Obtain an updated invoice and agree how a change will be handled.
Manual versus automatic: what the budget allows
There is no documented automatic Kylaq below ₹8 lakh. The January 2026 brochure places the Classic+ automatic at ₹9.25 lakh ex-showroom, while the qualifying Classic is manual. If an automatic transmission is non-negotiable, the stated budget must increase, or you must wait for a future price revision or offer that the dealer confirms.
Do not compare a manual car’s ex-showroom price with an automatic car’s on-road quote and call the difference a transmission premium. Use the same city, insurance assumptions and price date for both calculations.

What the Kylaq safety and equipment claims do—and do not—tell you
Six airbags across the Kylaq range and the identified five-star Bharat NCAP rating are meaningful range-level facts. They do not answer every practical question about the Classic. The available announcement specifically says selected lower trims received Climatronic automatic air conditioning and a rear defogger, but it does not identify every trim in the extract or provide a complete Classic equipment table.
Before signing, ask for confirmation of the items that matter to your use:
- Whether the quoted vehicle is the Classic manual rather than Classic+.
- Which air-conditioning system and rear-window equipment are fitted to that exact car.
- What safety equipment is standard and whether any item shown in a display vehicle is optional.
- Which warranty, roadside assistance or service terms are included, and for how long.
- Whether the quoted colour or accessory package changes the price.
This approach avoids turning a range-level company statement into an unsupported entry-trim feature inventory.

Stretching to Kylaq Classic+
The Classic+ manual is the nearest step above the cap: ₹8.25 lakh ex-showroom in the January 2026 brochure. If you can add ₹66,000 to the brochure price and still accommodate the higher on-road total, ask the dealer for a direct Classic-versus-Classic+ equipment comparison. The available material establishes the prices, but not a complete list of what the extra money buys.

The listed Classic+ automatic is ₹9.25 lakh ex-showroom. Its ₹1.66 lakh gap over the Classic manual is a budget decision, not merely a small convenience upgrade. Include the additional registration and insurance amounts associated with the higher vehicle price when calculating the real stretch.

Moving to Kushaq or Slavia
The Kushaq and Slavia start substantially above the limit in the cited 2026 announcements. They should be considered only if your budget is flexible enough to absorb at least the documented ex-showroom starting prices and the resulting on-road increase. Neither model can be presented as a new Škoda under ₹8 lakh on the available evidence.
Common mistakes when searching for a Škoda below ₹8 lakh
- Confusing launch and current prices. The Kylaq’s ₹7.89 lakh launch announcement dates from November 2024; the ₹7.59 lakh Classic figure comes from a January 2026 brochure. Neither is automatically a live quote in every city.
- Using an ex-showroom cap as an on-road cap. A car under ₹8 lakh ex-showroom can exceed that amount after registration and insurance.

- Assuming a displayed car has the base trim’s equipment. Dealers often display higher variants or accessory packages. Match the variant name and equipment sheet to the invoice.
- Accepting an unexplained handling or accessory charge. Request an itemised quote and decide separately about optional products.
- Comparing different price dates. Use current quotes for all models when making a buying decision; do not combine a new announcement for one car with an old brochure for another without showing the dates.
- Treating company claims as independent testing. The safety and positioning statements cited here come from Škoda announcements. They are not a substitute for an independent road test or ownership study.
A practical decision guide
Choose the Kylaq Classic manual if
- Your ₹8 lakh limit is an ex-showroom ceiling and a manual transmission suits your driving.
- You are prepared to verify the current city price rather than relying on a dated brochure.

Rework the budget if
- You require an automatic, because the documented automatic starts at ₹9.25 lakh ex-showroom.

Pause the purchase if

For a new Škoda under ₹8 lakh in India, the Kylaq Classic 1.0 TSI manual is the sole documented choice. Its ₹7.59 lakh ex-showroom listing leaves a nominal ₹41,000 below the threshold, but that margin is not an on-road allowance. Confirm the current price, local statutory costs and exact equipment before booking; if you need an automatic or a larger Škoda, plan for a higher budget.
