There is no single minivan reliability winner across every measurement. Toyota Sienna has been a model-level award recipient in both J.D. Power’s 2025 and 2026 Vehicle Dependability Studies, which track owner-reported problems after three years. Honda Odyssey leads iSeeCars’ 2026 minivan ranking for durability and the likelihood of reaching 200,000 miles. Those are different kinds of evidence, so the best choice depends on whether you prioritize a recent dependability signal or long-term, high-mileage potential.

Why the rankings disagree
J.D. Power and iSeeCars are answering different questions. J.D. Power’s Vehicle Dependability Study measures problems reported by original owners after three years. Its 2026 study covered 33,268 original owners of 2023 model-year vehicles, with fieldwork from December 2024 through November 2025, and examined 184 problem areas across nine categories. Toyota Sienna was among the model-level award recipients. The 2025 study covered 34,175 original owners of 2022 model-year vehicles, with fieldwork from August through November 2024; Sienna was also among its model-level award recipients.
For the 2026 study, J.D. Power reported an industry average of 204 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) after three years. A lower score indicates higher vehicle quality, but 204 is an industry-wide figure, not a minivan average or a Sienna score. Infotainment was the most problematic category at 56.7 PP100, a reminder that reported dependability includes software and connectivity issues as well as mechanical concerns. See the 2026 J.D. iSeeCars’ 2026 ranking takes a longer view, evaluating useful lifespan and the likelihood of a vehicle reaching 200,000 miles or more. Its page says the broader reliability method covers more than 312 million vehicles overall and more than 12 million vehicles for the minivan reliability score; those totals describe the dataset, not a direct count of minivans that reached the threshold. The ranking puts Odyssey first and Sedona second. These findings indicate historical durability patterns, not a guarantee that a specific van will last to 200,000 miles. Toyota Sienna: repeated recent dependability-study recognition
Sienna is the clearest choice if you value repeat recognition in recent three-year dependability studies: it appeared among J.D. Power’s model-level award recipients in both 2025 and 2026. That does not establish a numbered minivan rank, nor does it prove that every model year or powertrain has the same reliability. The releases reviewed do not give a full minivan comparison table.
Honda Odyssey: the iSeeCars high-mileage leader
Odyssey is the leader if you use iSeeCars’ 2026 durability ranking, which emphasizes useful lifespan and the likelihood of reaching 200,000 miles. Its 7.6/10 score belongs to that ranking and method; it should not be compared directly with J.D. Power’s PP100 measure.

Kia Sedona: a used-van result, not a current-model comparison
iSeeCars places the discontinued Sedona second at 7.0/10. This result is chiefly relevant to used shoppers. Check the specific model year and generation rather than treating the score as a prediction for every Sedona.
Kia Carnival, Chrysler Pacifica, and Chrysler Voyager: no score shown
iSeeCars lists these models but marks their reliability scores unavailable. That absence does not establish a reliability problem or support ranking them below scored vehicles. Consumer Reports’ accessible 2025 summaries describe a survey of about 380,000 vehicles and 20 potential trouble spots, but detailed Odyssey, Sienna, and Pacifica model scores could not be confirmed. How to choose a dependable used minivan
A model ranking describes a group of vehicles, not the condition of the one for sale. For a used van, examine the individual vehicle and its records before relying on a model-level result.
- Review maintenance records. Look for a consistent service history and investigate gaps or repeated repairs.
- Check mileage and prior use. Mileage is only one part of the picture; ask how the van was used and compare wear with the odometer reading.
- Verify recalls. Check open recalls for the exact vehicle, using its VIN and an appropriate official recall lookup.
- Arrange an independent inspection. Have a qualified mechanic assess the van’s present mechanical and overall condition before purchase.
- Confirm the exact year and powertrain. The evidence here does not establish a complete head-to-head reliability comparison by model year or between hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and gasoline versions.
How to make the final choice
Use reliability evidence to narrow the field, then weigh the needs that determine whether a van suits your household: passenger and cargo space, access, fuel economy, and budget. The available rankings do not measure those factors, and they do not provide a complete, consistent ordering of every current minivan.
