Among the 2024 German SUVs with directly documented specifications here, the BMW XM Label Red leads with 738 hp of maximum system output. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid follows at 729 hp of system output, while the Audi RS Q8 performance is rated at 471 kW (640 hp). These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results, and the comparison is not an exhaustive ranking of every German SUV.
Which 2024 German SUV has the most horsepower?
The BMW XM Label Red has the largest stated figure among these sourced examples: 738 hp maximum system output. Porsche reports 729 hp of system output for the 2024 Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. Audi gives the RS Q8 performance a rating of 471 kW (640 hp) in its European announcement.
The BMW and Porsche figures combine combustion-engine and electric-motor output; they are not engine-only ratings. Audi’s announcement pairs its European-market figure in kilowatts with horsepower. Because model-year and market coverage is incomplete, these numbers establish the leaders among the documented examples, not a definitive all-makes global ranking.

What the horsepower figures do—and do not—tell you
System output is not engine output
The XM Label Red’s 738 hp and Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid’s 729 hp are combined system ratings. Their individual engine and motor figures are useful powertrain details, but they should not be added together to independently recalculate the advertised total: manufacturers report a system figure, and the component ratings do not necessarily peak under identical operating conditions.

Keep units and test measures distinct
The Audi release states both 471 kW and 640 hp. The Porsche release uses US horsepower, lb-ft, mph, and a 0–60 mph acceleration figure. Do not treat Porsche’s 0–60 mph time as directly interchangeable with a 0–100 km/h time; the endpoints and test conventions differ. The sources cited here do not provide matching acceleration or top-speed figures for all three SUVs.
Where Mercedes-AMG fits—and why its current figures are separate
Current Mercedes-AMG specification pages list the GLS 63 4MATIC+ at 450 kW (612 hp), 850 Nm, and 0–100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, and the G 63 at 430 kW (585 PS), 850 Nm, and 0–100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. These are current webpage specifications, not verified 2024 model-year ratings, so they should not be inserted into a 2024 ranking as though their year-specific status were established.
