Audi’s highest published production-car output in the material available is 680 kW (925 PS) for the RS e-tron GT performance, reached in Launch Control. But the evidence does not establish a defensible, complete ranking of 15 Audi sports cars. The ranked list below compares the factory-built road-car models for which model-specific power figures are documented, and clearly marks temporary output and body-style distinctions.
How this ranking is defined
The figures below are Audi-published specifications, not independent test results. They are ordered by the highest stated output for each listed configuration. Audi commonly publishes European ratings in PS; PS and mechanical horsepower (hp) are different units, so the table preserves Audi’s PS figures rather than treating them as interchangeable. For electric models, a Launch Control figure is identified as a temporary maximum, not a continuous rating.
“Sports car” can mean a narrow two-seat coupe or a broader set of performance cars. To make the comparison useful without silently changing the category, the ranking includes factory-built, road-going Audi performance cars such as the R8, RS 5, RS 6 and RS 7. The RS Q8 SUV is discussed separately. The available model-specific facts support this selected comparison, not a complete top 15 across Audi history.

The list ranks configurations by their highest documented output, so the earlier RS e-tron GT’s Launch Control figure places it above models with higher normal output than its 598 PS rating. Its two figures describe different operating conditions, not conflicting specifications.

Where the RS Q8 performance fits
The 2024 RS Q8 performance is an SUV, so it is not included in the sports-car ranking. Audi specified 471 kW (640 PS) and 850 Nm, calling it the most powerful series-produced combustion model in Audi Sport GmbH history. That is a narrower claim than the all-production-car distinction Audi gives the RS e-tron GT performance: it applies specifically to combustion models, and does not make the RS Q8 Audi’s most powerful production car overall.

Audi’s published figures cited here cover selected generations and trims rather than every model in the marque’s history. They are enough to compare the cars in the table, but not to establish 15 distinct entries or a definitive historical order. Filling the remaining places without generation-specific documentation would risk mixing trims, generations or unlike vehicle categories.

Race cars should not be added to a road-car ranking. Audi’s R8 LMS GT2 customer-racing car is rated at 470 kW (640 hp), but it is a race car, not a road-production sports car. Its output also uses hp rather than the PS convention used for most European road-car figures above, so it is not a like-for-like entry.

What the figures do—and do not—tell you
- Peak output alone does not make these cars directly comparable: the list spans electric and combustion powertrains, different generations and different body styles.
- For electric cars, distinguish a temporary Launch Control maximum from normal maximum output; the conditions are part of the specification.
- Acceleration and top speed are included only where the cited Audi specifications provide them. They are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements.
- Audi’s “most powerful” descriptions have defined boundaries: the RS e-tron GT performance claim covers its production cars, while the RS Q8 performance claim is limited to series-produced combustion models from Audi Sport GmbH.
